My child just started public school this year and they were told and given all paperwork showing my child was being treated for adhd and ptsd and will be getting autism screening. They have suspended my 1st grader twice in the last 2 weeks. They have been restraining my child and not informing me. The principal told me not to listen to my 7yr old anymore and said my child was manipulative and defiant on purpose. We just changed the adhd meds 2 mos ago and it’s not being tolerated well. They met with me and had my child in the room while 3 staff told me how bad my child was and asked what I was doing for discipline. My first experience with public school is disgusting. They have no patience or empathy. I asked for a IEP/504 evaluation on the 3rd day of school and they ignored me. Asked again the first time suspended and still nothing. They didn’t do anything until I called the school board to report this.

Horrible school. All three of my children have gone to Love Memorial k-5th. Nothing but problems. I’m not a perfect parent but I’m a single mom and those ladies in the office have shamed me as a mom over the years. Like when I couldn’t pick up my daughter when she was sick because I work. I had to find someone to come get her and I’ll never forget the comment the blonde lady with short hair made to me (not going to give names) “As a mother I would never, I don’t know how you can just leave your child here.) Comments like that hurt people. When you are trying your hardest and you have people judging you made where I didn’t want nothing to do with that school and made it uncomfortable to talk or go to anyone when in need. Every complaint I made to that school, they were never at fault either. My son signed up for school lunches a year ago and the peanut butter and jelly snack had mold and I told the staff and they basically told me I was lying. Recently, my son got pushed down by another student and there were multiple stories going around. I had to take my son to the hospital because how hurt he was and instead of checking the cameras they believed everyone one else but my son. The principle basically called my son a liar saying he looked completely fine when she saw him that day. My son is a gentle boy, shy and has a good heart. He didn’t deserve that and we deserved a little more patience and understanding. They are quick to call dss on you too. They work against parents and pick and choose students they cater too. I saw little boy come to the office because he didn’t feel good and the lady in the office was so annoyed by his presence she didn’t even acknowledge him. He asked if he could call his mom and she said yea. He’s sitting there struggling for a couple minutes then she turns and very frustrated says you have to dial 9 first. Like how would that little boy know you have to dial 9 first. That school is awful. I have many more stories about that school and I hope those women get the karma they deserved how they treat people.

Love Memorial is a wonderful school dedicated to giving children the best start they can on their way to success. Teachers uphold the mission statement, "Enter to Achieve, Depart to Succeed." The needs of children always come first, followed by an administration that works hard to provide all things needed by the classroom teacher to make learning optimal. This school is like a big family that takes care of each other and those around them...I should know I worked 29+ years in this school. A elementary school is a place of learning but it should also be a place where a child feels safe, loved, and important, the name Love Memorial fits this school well.

Love Memorial is a fantastic school. The children have and always will come first. The school supports its students, faculty, and community. The school has been the top fund raiser for both United Way and Relay for Life. I am privileged to be a part of this wonderful school family.
