Sunshine is an inviting school and the teachers care a lot about their students academic and emotional goals.

The front office is a mess. They tell you one thing on the phone and another in person. They treat you like you’re trying to kidnap your own kid. They are super slow and unkind. The system is messed up. The pick up line is one lane and they block off all other entrances and make it super inconvenient to pick up your kid incase of emergency.

You let your teachers literally tear students down. Faculty always on the teachers side. I'm so glad my children are out of this school this year. Just awful!!!!

If this review had been written 10yrs ago, my views would have been great. Sunshine Elementary has gone from being a good group of over achievers that took pride in the students to a bunch of under achievers that are only concerned about a TITLE & WALKIE TALKIE. Instead of being in the classroom they create jobs that are supposed to enhance the learning abilities of the students who may be struggling in certain areas, when in fact the students are not getting the help they need. Now there are a few good strong willed teachers at Sunshine, but not enough to go around, therefor the doors are constantly revolving. You have teachers leaving in the MIDDLE of the school year to accept jobs at other schools because the administration doesn't know how to treat the staff. This principal needs to put on HIS BIG BOY PANTS and take charge, before one of the two women he has working under him, takes his job right from under his nose. If its not too late I would advise you to strongly consider other schools in the area before choosing Sunshine Elementary. While there may be one or two good teachers on each grade level; its not a guarantee that your child will end up on the winning end.

1. Kids get recess taken away, while the county has deemed it an inappropriate practice.2. Teachers call you back about 3 weeks after you leave a message, too little too late, meanwhile they wonder why a child is struggling.3. My daughter's teacher said "they cut out reading due to funding", who in their right mind will would remove reading time from school!?4. They only teach the FCAT, literally! Your child will learn ABSOLUTELY NO real life skills here, but they will learn how to take a test and turn on a computer.

THE KIDS DON"T GET RECESS!!!! Administration needs to do their research! They care more about the FCAT than developing well rounded kids. Shame on you Dr Bishop No recess for young children is EDUCATIONAL MALPRACTICE

I appreciate the efforts that the teachers have made to instill confidence in my son to learn and want to read. He now reads all the time on his own and is proud of his grades and is willing to do the extra work. In addition, I applaud the teachers for allowing the parents to stay engaged in their children's education. Education does not stop when they come home but rather must continue with the parents. The school's use of technology is superb. Again, I appreciate the extra efforts they have put forth to instill the drive to succeed in my son!
