This is a great school, I know because all of my children attendedEl Tejon. They won awards for attendance, sports, honor roll, participated in everything, and were popular with teachers and students. Have you seen the professional baseball field that Mr. Stewart is putting in with the help of parent volunteers and donations? Way to go! The staff encourages the students to do their best for intrinsic reasons, but also provides the best extrinsic rewards that I have ever seen, all within a beautiful rural school setting. I recommend this school to all parents, but a proactive parent will get more out of the experience and will show their family what community and citizenship is all about.

This school is the oldest school out of the entire district and has some of he most amazing teachers. The kids are so respectful! I've helped coach several of the kids in basketball and volleyball and every time, I have no complaints. Whenever I go to the school to visit, I'm always jealous that these kids go to such a beautiful school with so much history to it! I recommend this school to anyone thinking about moving to a nice small quiet town :)

I love El Tejon School for my child! I was a little apprehensive to have my child move from the elementary school to the middle school in 5th grade. After a few short weeks I could see how this is beneficial to all of the 5th graders! They are kept separate from the older children but have access to this huge campus with so many amenities. Plenty of room to run around and be kids, they all really love it. This campus has so much history, you can feel it when you walk through the halls. The teachers are really dedicated to the students and their future. There is a lot of push and incentive for them to do their best. There is a whole week dedicated to honor roll at the end of each quarter. Kids who were able to make it on the B, A, and Principal's Honor Roll get special perks and they really work hard all year to obtain them! The ASB really shines at this school as well. I am glad we still have a few years to enjoy this school and all it has to offer.

El Tejon Elementary School has it all. It has wonderful, qualified teachers who devote an extreme amount of time to all students. They offer a top notch education along with sports, Safe School Ambasadors, ASB, and many electives. My child absolutely loves El Tejon School.

I am a former parent of an El Tejon pupil. El Tejon is a wonderful school and asset to the community. They have a wonderful team of caring educators and the campus is the most beautiful in the district. The plans for closing this school and moving the pupil to the elementary and high schools are short sighted. We have the facility, lets use it instead of cramming students into cramped campuses. Also having middle schoolers in a high school environment at too early an age is an unsound idea. Let's keep El Tejon School open!

I used to attend El Tejon as a student years ago and now have come back to substitute teach in the El Tejon Unified School District. I've always had positive experiences with the school and look forward getting more of an opportunity to sub at this school and work with the wonderful faculty and students.

I attended this school from grades 4 to 8. The teachers are amazing and the campus is prefect for its age groups. Prefect for running around and Letting off steam. The teachers love their jobs and all the faculty love what they do.

It's a much needed elementary school! I do not agree to push 7th and eighth-graders to a high school

Since the teachers have stepped up and taken a lot of responsibility for leadership and District direction, El Tejon School has rocketed back to life. The teachers are now back to teaching their specialty instead of being "restructured" into obsolescence. The return of the joy of teaching has them volunteering to do much more than you find at other schools that padlock the gates by 3:15. As time passes the administrators begin to understand the need to listen to the staff and community but not to bend to the squeaky wheels that do not have "excellence" as their goal. The demographics of the aging community has hurt attendance which has in turn, made budgetary cuts necessary but all indications suggest that the District is in an attendance upswing mirroring the California economy. The new School Board has placed extracurricular activities and small class sizes as a priority for this rising Phoenix. Now the property values are just starting to rise to match the rise in communities just to the south. As the middle class continues to return, so too will additional programs for the most is historic, natural, and beautiful campus in all of Kern County.

Their have been a lot of changes at this school in the last year. New teachers and a new structure in classes. The teachers and staff are working hard to improve test scores and the overall appearance of the school. It is headed in the right direction.

This could be an outstanding school if you had teachers that cared about students. Instead you have only a "few" good teachers and others who are only there to collect a pay check. There is no communications with parents if a child is having difficulty academically or socially by some teachers which, is unacceptable. 5th grade children should be placed back at the Elementary school instead of mixing them with 7th and 8th graders. Unless the schools enrollment increases don't expect to see any significant changes in programs, but more teacher layoffs and possible school closure in the future.

We love El Tejon School ..... I went there as a kid and its still the same it hasn't changed. I hope the district doesn't shut this school down for lack of poor district operation . This school has a ton of history and you can feel it walking threw the halls. My child attended the Pine Mt. Learning center last year and we had a horrible experience there and never felt welcomed or a part of the school. We have been nothing but welcomed since enrolling here and Lucy in the office is just a doll. Our child has a great teacher this year and we love her positive attuitude and we can't wait to be a part of the 2013-2014,school year. GO BADGERS !!!!!!!

School does not legally accommodate student with learning issues. Not current in Computer sciences for students to compete in todays market=real life. Yes handful of great teachers, pickings are slim. Student to teacher ratio ridiculous, standards are below everywhere and students come out not prepared.
