I graduated from CCHS in 1996 and my son graduated from here a few years ago. While some things had improved, not enough have, IMO. All students are well supplied and have equal opportunity, but not equal attention, by far. As a student who wasn't among the affluent, came from a broken home, and had ADD which was only diagnosed years later, I didn't feel discriminated against but often felt forgotten. I literally had a few incidents where I had stayed after class to ask the teacher a question about the material we'd covered only to be ignored because they were too busy chatting with their star pupil or talking to one of their favorite jocks about extracurricular sports. One of the offending teachers had the nerve to tell my mother at a conference that I wasn't applying myself, to which she reiterated my story to him. His reaction was nothing short of offensive, as he singled me out in front of the class at the final bell each day for a week, passive-aggressively punishing me for calling him out. I was once suspended for tossing a BB back at someone who'd thrown it at me during a pep rally, yet remember many, many occasions when rich kids and jocks were let go with a warning for bullying and assaulting other kids. The favoritism was rampant in the 90s. Basically, if your patents were rich or you were a star player, you were golden. Everyone else was just a butt in a seat and a check from the government. My son graduated from here a few years ago. He's autistic, and while he was given some support for his special needs, it was always at the expense of hours of parental advocation. My oldest daughter has ADHD and had experienced enough of this similar mistreatement at one of the district's elementary schools and at the Jr. High, that we pulled her after 6th grade. She and her little sister attend cyberschool from home because we decided once and for all that our daughters will never experience the nepotism, favoritism, and elitism that is the core of this school. They'll be allowed to return if they choose, but it's been several years and neither had shown any sign of wanting to return. One official from the Jr. High school reached out and said they wanted them back in school and would miss them. I challenged them to name my daughters and they couldn't. I told him to wave goodbye to government check number 1 and government check number 2 before handing him their school-issued items and walking off campus hopefully for the last time.

This school is good to get your child ready for college and for sports

My experience at this school was very negative. Most of the teachers did not care about the experience that they were giving their students. Obviously there were the exceptions. The counselors are also very self centered. They don’t care about students wishes but rather the easy way out.

Tiny school, which has no redeeming qualities. I regret my time here and wish I'd never attended. Students were mostly drugged out, the teachers inexperienced and/or overwhelmed, and there was no counseling or support for disabilities. Does not prep for college at all. Avoid this school!

My daughter graduated from Cedar crest and had an excellent experience. My son is a student there now and enjoys it very much for the most part. I personally know several teachers there and they are top-notch individuals. Sports? that's another thing entirely, unless your child runs track and field or cross country. Those coaches are some of the best I've seen. Overall I would highly recommend the school.

This school is most definitely accommodating to all disablitys and all teachers and staff the best class is typing and study hall and pottery and art one and 2 and viscom and phise ed is the most fun cause you get to swim in the indoor swimming pool but it al statts from higher up on down the same as for as far as home to school it all starts from parents on down to their kids/students one thing you do not want to do though is whem you are on the afternoon bus goin home is throw anything out of the window cause for one that is dangerous for the oncoming traffic and the bus and and you do not wanna get embarrassed by the principal cause you possibly will be facing some disapline and or a school meeting int the audatorium

This school couldn't have done a better job to prepare me for college. I felt that the time I spent here was both useful, and gave me a great intellectual edge. I know many of my former classmates who are currently in Ivy League Universities, which only confirms the high sense of accomplishment and prestige in this school.

This school provides an above average curriculum with many students moving on to Ivy League Universities. The student population is diverse and there are many academic and sports activities to satisfy all interests. The teachers union is very strong which is good in some ways because it allows for high standards, but can be negative when it comes to salary/benefit negotiations at school board meetings. The teachers come across as entitled and take credit for high test scores when, in fact, there is strong parental and community involvement. I am unfamiliar with special needs offerings but it would be unfair to rate the school poorly based only on this criteria considering it is a very small portion of the student population. Overall, the school district is the best in the immediate area.

Cedar Crest provided me with the best education I could get. They did a fantastic job of preparing me for college and the academics there. I always felt that the school had excellent leadership, and academic resources. The school has all the amenities a student could ever wish for. I was involved in music and sport clubs and the are simply top notch. Cedar Crest provides the very best that a student needs. Also the facilities and campus is beautiful.
