Overall, I was hesitant about this school when I moved to this district. The first year I thought this school was pretty great. The second year my children were at Smoketown, some problems with other students started beginning. This is our third and LAST year at this school because the school cannot seem to focus on the students and help them. Bullying should not be such a problem, especially in an elementary school. I’ve had my kids tell me time and time again that the teachers do not pay enough attention or that they “fix” the problem by just telling them to ignore the bullies. Aside from the bullying problems, I have two children that are “advanced” but instead of them being given more challenging material to continue learning, they are made to help other children catch up. I think the homework policies are outrageous as well. I feel like the school just started going downhill a few years ago and It just hasn’t gotten any better since. Maybe it’s time for the school to look for a new principal, one that actually takes her job seriously, and doesn’t wear stilettos to work on a daily basis. I cannot wait to have my children in a new school next year!
