"The Iowa Tests of Basic Skills measure the skills, academic growth, and achievement of students from Kindergarten through Grade 8." - this is from the Iowa test basic skills which stands for ITBS. I graduated here and had a hard time in college. Just to warn everyone about this.

I want to give credit where it is due. New Generation was an excellent Christian-based setting. Almost every teacher who was religious gave their stories and prayed every day. I will be honest some of the stories I feel were a bit much to share for high school students. My problem began when I left the school and realized how far behind the curriculum was and how much they did not prepare me for the world. I researched the math books to figure out that the highest math grade book I passed was an 8th-grade book (Saxon Algebra 1) That was the high math book available at the time. I have no clue about it now but please research that before sending your child there. The founder will tell you it is based on how well your child does and how fast they do the pages but, coming from a previous student please think of your child's future, it took me ages to get through college because of how far behind I was. I had to take remedial math in college and keep that in mind for the money cost of college. At the time I attended not once did I ever write an essay or read more than two books. I had to learn on my own how to do all of these things after I left this school. Looking back at this school there were so many sketchy things and I'm hoping that the update adding their new section to the school does wonders. However, if you have a gifted child or you know they are at or ahead of grade level, do not send them here.

This school used to be good before 2015 when there began to be a drop in quality, thankfully I have left the school yet I still hear terrible things from old classmates about the education and social quality of this school which is a priority for how much your kid will be willing to go to school.

I must say that I'm glad New Gen is not held to the COMMON CORE standards that the public school are. The ITBS is a nation-wide test that New Gen gives to my child 3 times a year to compare my child's academic progress against other students across the country. To me, knowing how my kid is doing compared to other kids across the country IS holding New Gen accountable to standards. This school also had an accreditation agency visiting the school this year and even the parents were interviewed by this agency, so again, I am seeing standards. When the time comes for my child to take the ACT, I am thankful my child will be working with his teachers, at no additional charge (I was assured) to prepare him, rather than having to pay a tutor, or worse, having him get lost in the public school system! Not sure what that other parent was talking about because I have already seen another family member's transcript, complete with actual credits, and yes, this is a standard high school diploma, no problems getting into college. This family member even had the option to dual enroll through Florida Gateway College while attending New Gen. This school is God-sent!

Awful communication, went there to sign my child up for school and was given the run around for 2weeks. I was told I was 1st on the waiting list then 2nd, then I was informed after calling 4times that the classes were full and my sons application was disregarded. They lied about not receiving records that his school faxed over 4 times. Awful, experience and a complete waste of time.

My child "graduated" from New Generation and went to school there a number of years. I believe many of the staff have their heart in the right place, it should be about the children, first and foremost. Unfortunately, I know that my child did not graduate with the necessary skills to attend college immediately or go out into the workforce. He was well below the "passing score" for the ACT, thus, I have to hire a tutor to help him make enough gains so he wont have to take 2 years worth of remedial classes in a college setting. Further, the school got public funding for him from the McKay scholarship, but they are not held accountable to the state for student achievement like the public schools. If I had known all of this in advance, he would have been in a public school, but because I didn't realize this until his "Junior" year, the high school couldn't transfer his credits. New Generation doesn't have credits to graduate, just pass your classes (he was a straight A student there and knowing what I know now, that seems circumspect!) and pass the Iowa Basic Skills test, and BINGO, you too will have a piece of paper that says you are eligible to receive a diploma.

I cannot tell you enough great things about this school!!! My son struggled in school constantly. He had a reading comprehension problem which affected all subjects! Needless to say, he hated school! I found New Gen and loved their strategy on catching children up to grade level, so I signed my son up for 7th grade. Before he started, they tested him in every subject. In most areas, he tested at a third grade level, so they started him exactly where his knowledge was at in each subject. They worked one on one with him. If he got stuck, they would go back over the material until he understood. They would say, there is no point in moving forward if he doesn't understand what he is doing now. I agree!! So, my son is now starting his senior year, and I am very proud to say he is testing at grade level in most subjects except for where he is testing above grade level!!!! My son is looking into dual enrollment this year! That would have never been a possibility if it weren't for this school!! I cannot thank them enough!!!! So, do I recommend this school for your child??? You better believe it!!!! Thank you New Gen!!!!! My son and I will always be grateful!!! VW and JM

New Generation School has been a blessing for my two boys, ages 14 and 10. They were both failing in the public school system, and had been pretty much written off. In one year, they both advance more than two years overall in their education and are both back on track to graduate with a high school diploma!!! We love this school!

This has been in my oppinion the best school for my daughter. They do have excellent teachers and a wonderful principal / teacher. They have brought my daughter from straight f's to a's and b's. They have a great ciriculam that they teach and other great programs. They spend a lot of one on one with the kids and make sure they understand what they are doing.

My teenage daughter really struggled in public schools. Since she has changed to New Gen she has gotten straight A's . I credit this to the excellent teachers she has and the individualized Christian curriculum

New Generation is a school whose staff is dedicated to helping kids who don't do well in the traditional school system. The education is very individualized and tailored to each child's needs. Ne Generation has made a huge difference in my child's education and in her self esteem and happiness. The school is like a small community that accepts and celebrates that being different is okay. The kids feel safe to be themselves. Not only has this school changed my child's life for the better, I no longer have to struggle to get her to cooperate in school or with homework, so the whole family is less stressed and has more quality time. We thank God for finding New Generation!

New Generation is a school where the students are excited about going and dont want to leave at the end of the day. We feel this has a lot to do with the schools motto, "Exceptance breeds excellence".

Before my son came to this school, I worried about his future. Now I see that he actually has a future. As time goes forward, I know that New Generation will continue to grow and serve more children that desperately need them. God Bless this school!

When moving to Lake City, the public school system was not what we were use to. My daughter was failing. After enrolling her into New Generation, she is now succeeding. She now makes all A's and B's and the teachers work with her and make her correct her work until she gets it right. The teachers are helpful and know the value of an education.

I have been involved with this school for several years and am so excited to be a part of seeing students excel. Dr. Paula and her staff give the children the guidance and help them build the confidence they need to prepare for their future. The school wants the parents to be involved in every aspect of their child's development & growth. I would and do recommend this school to anyone in our area who is looking for an environment that is nurturing to the child.
