Academics: Good core class variety. Some really good teachers, others average. AP offerings are good: Mr Mazzeo is one of the best esp. for first time AP class takers. Mrs. Shnipes, excellent English teacher really motivating and got the kids interested in Shakespeare! Mrs Shoenbauer. A stand out science teacher, runs a good classroom too. Engineering (Project Lead the Way). Instructor was uninterested in the design class. Refused to help students with computer based programs. Relied heavily on packets with little interaction. Maybe more advanced classes in the program are better but if the intro classes are not good what motivation do the kids have to move forward. Clubs: Good variety of after and during school clubs. Sports: soccer team coach, I disagree with how he sets up his jv vs varsity. Instead of having a varsity level highly competitive team and a jv team of kids who play well but aren't "stars". He only allowed players on jv for 9th and 10th. NJROTC: this Unit is in decline, events are disorganized, there is a lack of leadership training and mentoring, instructors show blantant favoritism, while openly belittling other cadets. Administration: have never seen the principal in the school, only see her at award ceremonies, Mr. Lloyd says all the "right" things and then takes no action, Mr. Dibella, is a decent guy, seems to try and do the right things. SRO Kaylor was great very involved, positive, kids trusted him and looked to him as a good example. Always at events, in the halls, seemed to know most of the kids by name. However he was promoted and left. I am not impressed with the new officer, Anderson, but as he is leaving at the end of this year I will leave it at that.
