TERRIBLE - send your kids to Anacortes or Mount Vernon, Burlington instead OR private/home school if possible they’ll learn more

We are new to this district and coming in to it we were warned by teacher friends that it was previously not very good. However a change in administration both at district level and middle/high school level has really made a good difference from what I can see. Both of my children are thriving here. It's not too small, and not too big. I can talk one on one with the teachers on little to no notice (they are always available to us which is great), and the school is very community minded. I think the community is as well. I have nothing but good to say about this school . My older child is really doing well, has friends and is becoming her own person. Previously in other locations we dealt with a lot of bullying and drama. I'm very sorry to see it ranked so low here. I think it should be ranked better. I think you need to look beyond test scores when deciding what school is right for your family.

The school district is involved in trying to reach the Native American population that has a large number of students in their ranks....some of those kids have done well....they have a special program called Tall Cedars that is geared to help these kids especially have a real chance to get a high school diploma. When my son went to the High School, I liked being able to get emails , etc from the school & felt like I could speak to them about situations & concerns I had regarding his education. Pus it is in a beautiful little town! :)
