The teachers and staff are amazing! The reason the score is low, students do not take the state tests seriously. Parents encourage their children by stating; the test doesn’t matter, therefore no effort is made. The school is wonderful, environment is also wonderful. We should stop rating schools on state tests, it makes them look poorly run. There are a lot of intelligent students who go on to do great things in High School and college.

KMS is a good school, but a tough transitioning group of kids. Music is great, but academic studies are widely varied. The District has been pushing a math program that does not work. The math is so difficult to follow, that Parents cannot help their kids, and teachers have had to be taught by a curriculum "expert" that was hired to train teachers how to teach the math. Thank goodness many math teachers still supplement traditional math to help the kids. Some teachers definitely push agendas, and push students and parents of kids who have religious beliefs to "open their mind" to other views that are against the students religious beliefs. Overall the teachers are good, but the district administration leaves much to be desired in the curriculum they push as well as the means of measuring student proficiency. A "training session" was required this year to "teach" parents about the grading system. If a grading system is so difficult it requires teaching it to the parents, how do you think the teachers and students are going to be able to effectively use it? Common sense doesn't prevail at the administrative level, but if you are a parent who is involved, your kids will do fine.
