I’m not super thrilled with this school any longer. There was a time when it felt warm and inviting but as a long time parent, I no longer get that warm fuzzy feeling here. We used to be invited in to read in the classroom, help with bulletin boards, teach junior achievement, volunteer in the library, and there was simply a feeling of community. Now they barely open the office door and when they do it’s not to greet you with a warm smile or a friendly chat while you wait for your child to be called down. They isolate visiting parents on the stage instead of allowing them to visit with the student and classmates. (Perhaps we have become such a litigious society that we can’t dare allow a parent to engage in friendly converasation and get to know their child’s classmates). I feel like there was more respect from the kids when classmates knew one another’s parents. As visiting parents we could help other students open drinks or ice pops or just be an extra set of eyes on the kids and I would think that would make things easier for the teachers being that there is only one teacher for every two classes at lunch. I have also noticed that they no longer give homework to students and it seems there is far less challenging projects for students. Perhaps this is part of the reason for the declining school rank, I don’t know. I understand security concerns have changed in the last 10 years but to me building a strong community where we know one another and can look out for each other and our children it would behoove the schools to build and foster stronger communities. When I was a younger parent, most of my friend group came from relationships made while volunteering at and playing after school on the playground. It’s sad to say I don’t see this anymore at Foster. I put up with it because I have no other choice as I’m not in a position to pay for private school but it’s truly sad to see the decline in community at Foster. I suppose it’s better than some schools but compared to years gone by Foster elementary school isn’t what it used to be.

To be honest, I could not ask for anything more from this school. Everyone was supportive of my son and helped him be his best. He had attended other elementary schools due to us moving. Foster has been the best by far. I wish I could have gone to school there. We’re very happy to be a part of the Foster family and enjoyed the awesome traditions from the annual carnival to the epic (no joke!) 5th Grade vs Teachers kickball tournament to the wonderful 5th Grade pool party. I can’t give this entire school anything other than an A+ !

My daughter has gone here since kindergarten and is about to graduate from 5th grade. All of her teachers have been fantastic, the support staff is really friendly and caring. The school has a really strong and involved PTA with a lot of parents who volunteer. My daughter was born with a medical condition that required speech therapy and their program and speech therapist have been amazing. My daughter has all A's and one B, and she has definitely bloomed at her time at Foster. I'm really surprised they don't have a higher rating. I can't say enough great things about them! <3 the Bulldogs!

My son has been going to foster for a few years and I have seen a great improvement since they got a new principal . Love the staff.

The staff are uncaring and this transcends throughout the environment. I could not recommend this school.

Avoid moving to this area if you can. Foster Elementary School employs teachers and management staff who appear friendly in the beginning of the school year, but gradually through brief glimpses throughout the year, you'll realize they are rude to the children. If you have any concerns, especially if your child is harmed or hurt on campus, they are belligerent and defensive. This is a reprehensible school that turns a blind eye to bullying! Stay away!! For the safety of your children, especially if Mrs. Zelezinski is still the principal! She does NOT care about your kids!

Challenging curriculum; I see that Foster received an Exemplary rating from the T.E.A., that's the highest rating a school can receive, I believe. My special needs daughter has just blossomed and is excelling in the 5th grade. My husband transferred here from Kentucky- trust me, Kingwood schools are a HUGE improvement of what is offered in Kentucky, sorry Kentucky.
