Every single year at this school there is a teacher in each grade that enjoys covertly (they think no one notices or that they won't get into trouble for what they are doing) bullying kids and using power play tactics. Commonly it's teachers that used to play sports and now coaches the sports that like to target non sports playing kids that get decent grades but enjoys tanking the kid's grades for fun/enjoyment. This year it's a geometry teacher who refuses to grade late work or pretends the assignments have been turned in late. My child's grades are decent 90% of the time, sometimes their grades can dip during throughout the year but I am also very aware of my child strengths and weaknesses are. That's why I am keenly aware each year when my child has a problem teacher who likes to subtly mess with kid's grades and acts like no one notices what they are doing. They are literally trying to make good kids with decent grades fail classes. These type of narcissists should not be allowed to teach children.

FHS has very engaging teachers - both among IB and non-IB classes. Most students take at least some IB classes. New facilities, nice athletic facilities, drama program, science labs, engaged community.

Terrible. My son has been bullied multiple times and staff has been less than helpful. We pressed charges on the kid through the resource officer and he told us the state would most likely drop the charges. My son has marks all over his back from being assaulted 2 months ago. It was his second time being bullied by the same bully. Now he has a new bully. So we are trying to pull him out of school to home school him. They want to charge us money to home school him. It’s an outrageous amount at that. So google class room which was offered for covid cant be used now even though the bullying is not being controlled. So they fail to keep my son safe and want us to pay money when we want to home school him and keep him safe. My kid is so depressed because of this school. This is why kids take their lives and there are school shootings. Ridiculous.

Teachers are genuinely interested in students and actively take part in making students' current and future lives better. In third grade, I went to a different school in a different state and was a B/C average student. I started hanging around the academically inclined kids and realized realized the importance of hard work. The key was finishing homework on time, reading, and writing. That propelled me until about 8th grade. Then I moved to that town's middle school and received my first C on a paper in a long time. It frustrated me and I worked harder. I then moved to Kalispell as a Sophomore. Much of the initial technique still remained - homework on time, read, write, and show up. But the work was harder, more intense, and longer. The teachers were always willing to help and often their feedback on writing assignments, math, etc was motivating and illuminating. The teachers were all unique and highly motivated to be there. They gave great, tough feedback and I definitely benefited from it.When 11th grade hit, I read Aristotle for the first time and learned about the Founders. I dived deep into Metaphysics and philosophy gradually learning that knowledge was a collection of facts and facts weren't the end goal. I participated in a variety of activities such as XC, Track, Speech and Debate, Honors, and IB. I never once felt that the teachers didn't care about the person I was becoming including the coaches. One caveat of my experience is that I didn't participate in anything like cooking, art (with the exception of Theater), agriculture, or some of the more physical electives. Nonetheless, I'd say that FHS honed my abilities. It's a school that emphasizes tradition in the right way - seeking new and challenging answers while remaining true to oneself and the long standing values that make this a great school.

Flathead High School is a high performing school that offers incredibly rigorous class work through the International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme. The program is not just for the academically gifted, over 63% of Juniors and Seniors take at least 1 IB Class and they learn how to learn. Critical thinking skills, life lessons, and a supportive staff are all things my children have gained by attending FHS. The Theater, Music and Speech and Debate programs are Nationally recognized year after year. The Agricultural Education Center offers an Ag based education that is second to none! Newer programs like the 4 year Bio-Medical track and the 2 year House Construction class teach students real world applications. Flathead High School prepares students for a college career at any level, be it a state school or Ivy League. I have heard many students come back from their first year of college to say that they were totally prepared for college and that some of their peers in college were not. I would recommend this school and the IB Programme in particular to anyone wanting to gain a better understanding of their world and their place in it.

Excellent. My kids went on to stellar careers. And one said his classes at FHS were better learning experiences than his Ivy League university!
