I went to this school and it sucks. It doesn't prepare you for high school at all, some of my friends were sexually harassed. There was an incident where a few students were purposely punting balls at my head, causing us physical damage, and all that happened was they had to apologise. There are kids getting beat up and the classrooms are falling apart. With the price you have to pay to get into the school you think they would use some of it to repair the school itself. while I was enrolled we had a day where THE DRYWALL FELL OFF THE CEILING. and not just a small bit of it, almost all of it. if you are being harassed by a student then all they say is "express your feelings and talk to them". this school has put me into therapy permanently.this school may look good on the outside it is not a good experience on the inside.

It has been amazing for our son. He was utterly unchallenged, bored and frustrated before we came to Kazoo School. Now he loves school, and enjoys an age-appropriate level of physical activity every day. He loves being outside in the woods next to the school and is thriving in every single way that a parent would hope for. It's also a place for everyone, not a private school for rich families only. Through its scholarship program, Kazoo is able to offer families from all walks of life the opportunity to educate their kids in an environment that benefits the whole child.

Few decisions are as important as where to send your child to school. As parents, we took our time and researched all the available options. As I write this, I can honestly say that choosing Kazoo School is one of the best decisions we ever made as parents. Kazoo is a place where every child is known and cared for. A place where curiosity and creativity are valued. Its small size leads to a family atmosphere and much one on one in the classroom. In a world that is becoming more and more preoccupied with standardized testing at the sake of almost everything else, Kazoo School views outdoor recess, the arts, and daily physical education not as a luxury, rather a necessity. But above all, the reason we know we made the right decision choosing Kazoo is the happiness and progress of our child who runs into class each and every day excited to see what he will learn next...!

What an amazing environment for learning. Both of my children have thrived at Kazoo School with teachers who know and understand them, and who work to find the best ways to teach them. I've been thrilled by the recent hires of new 4-8th grade math and science teachers who work closely with each student to help them meet their potential after carefully assessing their needs through multiple assessments. The new head of school is thoughtful, has listened to concerns when I had them, and helped me see where issues I thought were problems had an easy fix. She is a real asset. I've had at least one child at the school for 8 years, and looking ahead, I'm excited about the possibilities for my youngest. There truly is a fabulous community, excited faculty, and strong leadership at Kazoo School.

I was a longtime parent at Kazoo School loved its progressive approach and nurturing atmosphere in the beginning. Unfortunately, it is a school in constant turmoil. In six years, it has changed leadership no less than four times. As a result of this instability, the enrollment has plunged, the teachers are given little guidance, and I witnessed my child's education suffer. Although I am no longer a parent there, my friends who are tell me the new interim head of school is eager to do the right thing, but unable to lead the school effectively and make tough changes due to her inexperience. I once loved this little gem of a school, but it is with a heavy heart that I no longer recommend it.

Kazoo School is an amazing place. My daughter attended Kazoo for eight years. She learned how to think deeply and critically, how to analyze information and create theses, how to speak and write clearly and with passion, and how to care for herself and for others. Kazoo School's progressive academic program is first rate. They are very dedicated to helping every child learn and grow. Add their amazing community service and outreach initiatives, place-based learning, strong environmental studies program, supportive, experienced teachers, and caring community, and you have a wonderful place for a child to learn and grow. All students are accepted, encouraged, and allowed to be themselves and every effort is made to accomodate different learning styles and abilities. My daughter was more than prepared for her transition to public high school and KAMSC, and continues to thrive, in part because of the foundation she was given at Kazoo.

My son is very dyslexic and was struggling at Public school. He has completely changed his attitude towards school. I used to have to drag him to school, but once he started at kazoo he has loved it ever since! The new Math and science teachers are amazing! They are using and encouraging kids and finally making these so important subjects fun and exciting to all the kids! Its wonderful. Project based learning is a model for success for life long learners. I also love seeing all the kids at kazoo and their individuality. Its such a warm and welcoming place that lets the kids be who they are not who society thinks they should be. Its wonderful. My daughter is in 1st grade this year and is thriving! As a mom I really enjoy the personal touches that Kazoo does, and the real sense of "community" that is ever present. I highly recommend this wonderful gem of a school!

Extremely disappointing. The school sells itself on building a child's self-confidence and ability to tailor its teaching to each student's unique needs. Several of the teachers are able to do this. However, several cannot. The math and science teach was incapable of meeting this goal. I am still not clear if it was due to ability, or staffing. However, we approached the teacher and administration several times when my child expressed concern that she was not understanding the math material. After 6 weeks, and several meetings with the teacher and administration, we ended up having to pull her from the school as her self-confidence was being eroded. She went to a different school. She was just assessed in public school and found to be a year ahead in math, so I feel confident that my child can learn and it was the school's inability to teach that was the challenge. I would be cautious in going to this school. With that being said, I just learned that the teacher and principal have left. This means that the school may improve, but given my experience, I cannot recommend this school.

Kazoo has been nothing short of exceptional. My daughter entered Kazoo shy and reserved and is now outing and confident. There has never been a more supportive and child-focused school. She excels in learning as her education is fluid and catered to her interests and passions. In additional they have an amazing teachers and a community that supports all of the Kazoo families.

Kazoo School is an extraordinary school. The approach to learning and academics is designed to create a life long love of learning and to inspire creativity. The class sizes are small and there are ample opportunities to dig deep into a subject or activity. Most of all, Kazoo School is a community where children are cared for and parents work together to make the school experience great. Also, the students participate in an excellent PE program every day! Art and music classes are twice per week and Spanish everyday.

Kazoo School has been a wonderful experience for my son. The teachers are nurturing and caring, the class sizes small, and the community of parents is strong. The students have access to the Kleinstock Preserve adjacent to the school which offers a unique opportunity to spend time outside. Students have a voice at Kazoo School and play an active role in their experience there.

My daughter has been at Kazoo School for three years now. The small classroom sizes have allowed the students to experience so many hands on projects, build meaningful relationships with their classmates and older and younger students. They go on numerous field trips, have engaging discussions, are able to get the one on one time with their teacher when needed, and are able to excel in reading and math at their own level. They have P.E. EVERY DAY! So important for these kids! I am amazed with all of the teachers, and am thrilled they have Spanish, Drama and Music class twice a week as well. This is a wonderfully well rounded school!

If your child has learning differences, this is not the school for you. Despite the significant percentage of students requiring medical intervention for sensory issues, behavior issues and/or learning disabillities, the teachers and the administration lack the basic skills and committment necessary to understand and support these students.

Kazoo School teachers are creative and innovative by incorporating curriculum objective into the children's interest and life events vs. teaching to what is on the State's standardized tests. The parents, students, teachers, administration and board members make up a unique community committed to the success of the school and the children.
