Absolutely not a fan of this school's administration. Rules are followed here and there, seemingly dependent on whether administration likes you or not (I mean this for the teachers, too, not just who they dress code). Teachers seem to have their hands tied by policy to make any real difference. They're on yet another new curriculum and with so few half days, I don't see how anyone has the training on it. Kids are totally disengaged, teachers are tired of being talked down to... I wouldn't recommend sending a kid here. If you're looking to buy a house, don't pick here... find other areas in Joliet with more sunshine than here. Hopefully administration changes hands soon.

Just moved over here 1 year ago and I have nothing negative to say and neither does my child which is the important part! The teachers have been great communicators and they have many partner involved activities . Teachers are out before and after school to monitor the kids.

They are TERRIBLE! My child came from a small preschool through kindergarten and unfortunately it doesn't go any further grade wise so we needed to transfer. She started first grade this year and it honestly was horrible for her! Already being nervous she had some tears (understandable) on the first day. After the first day she told us about a little boy crying and the teacher yelled at him "stop crying! Crying won't make your day go any faster!". She also only watched a movie the first day, ate lunch in bleachers, and when the kids get into trouble they have to go sit in a different class room. So far they learned how to write copy sentences that the teacher writes on the board, and every day she came home she couldn't even tell us what she learned that day. To make matters worse, on the first full week of school she was still upset (this being upset was so intense that she would cry every time we talked about school or even mentioned it and even grew into her stomach hurting her) she was holding on to me and the teacher physically grabbed her from my arms and carried her screaming. This obviously made matters much worse for her bc she was terrified that every time she would go to the school they were going to take her from me. We decided to pull her out and found an amazing school so we needed to go pick up paperwork and her school supplies only for the principal to call my daughter "the crying one". They don't challenge their students at all and are actually teaching the students at a grade below what they should be. I DO NOT recommend this school at all! They are rude, not in any way sensitive, and adult BULLIES! This school needs to be reevaluated as a learning environment at all.

Taft Elementary School. Full of bullies and teachers who do nothing. Staff members don't do anything as well. There's even lunch ladies flicking the back of the children's heads. What a joke. Two students do the same thing and one gets a sole penalty while the other has to be picked up. Ridiculous. Even boys slamming books in a girls face. I never saw his punishment. Would not recommend this school to ANYONE.
