Amazing public school with Orton-Gillingham trained teachers that understand and thoroughly support children that are struggling to read, write and do math. The principal and teachers truly understand how other schools have repeatedly failed children with dyslexia, dysgraphia and dyscalculia. They strive to make a positive difference academically, socially, and emotionally. All districts need a dyslexia school as 1 in 5 kids struggle with specific learning differences.

This is the ONLY school not only in Duval county dedicated to students with dyslexia, but the ONLY school in the surrounding counties dedicated to meeting the special needs of children with dyslexia. This will be my daughters third year at this school. When she started in first grade she could barely read 20 site words, she is now reading 124 words per minute. It was a FIGHT to get her ready for school, get her out of my car at school, to do homework, etc. Since starting at GRASP her attitude toward school has changed drastically. To quote her "momma at this school I am smart". That is what she told me toward the end of her first grade year. I make MANY sacrifices for her to attend that school and will continue to do so because this school makes a difference.

GRASP Academy is a public school in Jacksonville for Dyslexic students. The teachers use the Orton-Gillingham method for teaching students which is the preferred methodology for students with dyslexia. Having such a resource available in our area is invaluable.
