Jackson High School is one of two high schools in the Clarke County Public School System. Opened in 1982, the present facility serves the communities in and around the City of Jackson located in the southern part of Clarke County. The area is primarily rural and the major industry is forest products. Rigorous academic honors classes along with en eclectic Career/Tech department helps JHS to be the best high school in the county. The athletic department is top notch having state championships in baseball and football. JHS strives to develop a learning community where teachers and students are constantly in the pursuit of knowledge that will produce competent members of society and effective members of the work force.

Moved from a private school in the county to here as a freshman. The honors program here has challenged me here more than I was ever challenged at my old school. It has prepared me for college and the ACT. Without Jackson High I would be paying for my own tuition at UofA instead going there on scholarship. The community supports all sports strongly, and are willing to do anything for the kids. If you like small classes and easy work, and dont want to be prepared for college, go somewhere else. Yes, there are fights, but that will happen at any public school. I have never felt afraid or threatened here and I feel comfortable with my younger sister being here next year. Keep your head on straight and do what you need to do and you will be just fine. Jackson is an AGGIE NATION and one of, if not the best schools in this area. (I still call my teachers from JHS and get advice and help all the time, dont know really know what the review below is talking about, should have never left JA if they loved it so much)
