The academics at this school are top notch, however if your child has any special needs they will not be supported.

I went to elementary school at Atheneum for grades 2-5 and had a fantastic experience. I made life long friendships in the program and felt understood and adequately challenged. The only real critique is that the classes feel separated from the rest of the students attending the school.

The first year in the program was great with teacher, Rachel McLaughlin, who challenged students and communicated with parents. After that year the experience did not meet our expectations. Kim Westra does not work with the parents to challenge students and provide a adequate learning environment.

There was a student who was very mean. He had a very bad temper and called students very rude names. Different students went to the teacher several times throughout several years.None of the teachers did anything because his parents were members of the PTA. Even when the principal was involved, the bias was so great that he had the freedom to continue to be a bully to students.

We started our son here this year (third grade.) We moved him because he was clinically diagnosed as depressed. It was not therapy that broke the depression, but the move to this school. Our son loves the humor in his class, and has more friends now. The curriculum is challenging, and the staff very flexible working with each kid. We are really thankful we found this gem of a school.
