I was a teacher at Todd Academy last year, & I feel those interested in Todd - whether as a parent, potential employee, or other - understand what they're getting into. My criticisms are purely of the administration & the way it runs the school; one thing I'll say positively is they're picky about who teaches. Those who do are amiable, patient, & knowledgeable. As well as providing a quality education at a small private school, I believe these qualities are sought after by Sharon Todd because those teachers will placate the working environment. There was no heating & A/C was only acquired in the spring, so fall was atrocious. We were paid with personal checks & received each on average 3 - 4 weeks after the pay date (often Sharon Todd told us to wait to cash them). Even now, a year later, I'm still owed money. 1200 characters is not enough to describe my opinion of the administration & my time under it, so understand this is an abridged version of my feelings. My coworkers were great, the students wonderful, but the lack of organization for the school & its kids & employee treatment is beyond the pale. To the administration the school is first & foremost a business, not a school.

Sharon Todd, the director of the school, is very charming and charismatic at first; however, we caught her flat out lying to us about things we knew (she did not know that we knew). We have pulled our child out of this school. The teachers cycle in and out - rumors that she does not pay them seem to be true. This place is chaotic - having had classes in 4 different locations this school year already. Currently classes are held in a banquet hall next to a tattoo parlor. Do yourself a favor and stay away.

I worked here in 2013 and 2014. Many good teachers, including myself, were forced to quit because we were not paid.

I worked here and was not paid last year. I still have not been paid. I was very excited when I started because I loved the idea of working at a school like this, but leadership is very disorganized.

I worked here in the Fall of 2014. The school building is in a horrific state of disrepair. There was no working central heat and each room was heated with space heaters. Finally around Thanksgiving, the health inspector forbade the teaching of children in the building until there was heat and hot water. The school was forced to relocate to a nearby church.

Todd Academy offers a truly unique educational experience that prepares students for success after graduation. By partnering with an early college entrance program at an area university (IUPUI), and then providing shuttle rides to the university for the courses, students get to experience a bit of college, while finishing high school. Some students complete quite a few hours at the university with the support (including tutoring if needed) of the Todd Academy staff. In addition, Todd Academy offers challenging coursework that covers a diverse subject area to engage the minds of gifted and talented youth. The atmosphere is open and friendly and the students feel free to express themselves as they discover new concepts and ideas in the classroom. The teachers are accessible and take the time to make sure the student is understanding the material. Some may be put off by the fact that the school is currently undergoing renovations in its new location. However, the school has classrooms that are complete and there are efforts made to lessen the impact of the remodel. Indeed, my son finds it exciting to be a part of an innovative program that will soon have it's own completed building.

My child has developed SO much since attending Todd Academy, including self-confidence, friendships, reasoning skills and so on. I love the parents too! It's a diverse group of students and parents which makes it unique to all other schools. Your child learns the meaning of volunteering and giving back to the community, too. Additionally, the teachers are wonderful and the administrative staff are helpful with everyone.- something lacking in nearly all of the other public and private schools.

This school could be great. Maybe, eventually, it will live up to its potential, but we can't afford to waste another year to see if they do.
