Bishop Chatard is a great place to call home.

Our experience at Bishop Chatard has been wonderful! We were not from Indianapolis originally and weren't too familiar with any of the high schools, so we compared all the schools in the area when our first child was going to high school. There are a lot of great schools around! While they all had some positives, we are so grateful we chose Chatard for our family. The size of the school, caring faculty, and opportunities inside and outside of the classroom have helped our children grow into young adults who are ready for life after high school. In fact, our three children who have graduated headed to college taking with them so many AP credits that they could register as sophomores during their first year. More imortantly, Chatard's mission is to weave the formation of the whole person through the entire curriculum, so the focus is on developing mind, body, and spirit. It is an authentic Catholic education!

As an alum and parent of 4 current and past students, this school has been a blessing in so many ways. The administrators know my kids and personally interact with them. They are not just a number. The teachers and coaches go the extra mile to ensure that every student succeeds.

It is obvious that the person who entered all the 1 star ratings is the same person. I am sorry they had a bad experience but most of what they said is not true. For example...1) Late Mon mornings and early dismissal Fri afternoon scheduling is not so teachers can have meetings but so that teachers get a longer time with children per class period and so they do not have the same group at the same time every day... it is called block scheduling. In the old scheduling world, when my child had math at 8 am every morning, they didn't always do well because they were tired. Now my child has math at various times through the week which has helped tremendously. They also get a little bit longer time in the class.2) The staff does not bully and are there to help. I had a concern about my child and all I did was email guidance and they were all over it to help. Met with my child and then if things didn't resolve, would meet with me. They are VERY caring. My children grow in faith and education. They are VERY involved in service, sports and activities. Chatard takes all kids from all learning levels and all socio-economic levels. They care about each one. My children are prepared for life after high school... Thank you Chatard!

Bishop Chatard is a great community to be involved with.My husband and I have had two kids graduate from there. As well as a Sophomore and we will be sending our First Grader there one day. We feel blessed that our kids are learning the sense of community in such a great place.

I have had 5 children graduate from Chatard high school in the last 8 years. They all had different personalities, strengths and weaknesses. It was a great academic and learning environment where their different levels of abilities were met and they have a great resource department for those needing extra help. I always felt the teachers respected my children and had the utmost concern for them. We wanted our chiIdren in an academically strong school that taught and lived the Catholic values we live at home. My children truly loved being a part of the Chatard community as well as us. It was truly It was a great decision on our part to send our children to Chatard and to become part of the Chatard community.

Sadly the new administrators are the worst power-hungry individuals you will ever meet. They have no understanding of the mission of the Catholic church, and lack all the integrity that pass administrators have held on for so long. The students are welcoming, but you can't get too far when the blinds are leading the blinder. It is no longer about the hard work and service to the students but bullying staffs and lazy administrators who ignore the concerns of parent and student - Sad

The teachers, staff, administration, and students of Bishop Chatard High School are family. We've had 2 children graduate and go on to great colleges with much success. We have 2 children there now who are being cared for during a very trying time in our family's life. No other place has opportunities like BCHS because of it's size and the academic excellence provided by caring teachers, staff, and administration. The block scheduling referred to in a previous post offers an entire hour per day for each class. More time for teaching, more time for reviewing, more time for students to complete assignments and ask questions during class time. BCHS is an exceptional choice for anyone wanting a solid, top of the line education for their children with the addition of amazing Catholic teaching immersed in every aspect of their school day.

Very little quality teachers. They seem so unequipped to teach that the students have late start every Monday and early dismissal every Friday. That is 2 full weeks of education lost so the teachers can have staff meetings.

I am an alum of Bishop Chatard and a prospective parent. My experience as a student was great. In recent years, I have had many encounters with students and families and they have all been positive. The students are compassionate, helpful and diverse. The families and parents are down-to-earth, accepting and caring. Now that I am looking through a different lens as I prospective parent, I so look forward to sending my children to this school. I believe it offers a faith-filled and well-rounded experience for young adults.

I can not in good faith recommend this school to anyone. After the departure of the last principle this school has been thrown into administrative chaos. The current administration is run by educators that hold little regard for the educational and emotional well being of students, selectively enforces rules, and actively disregards and ignores concerned parents. In the past two years a administrator, who will remain nameless, actively dismissed parents concerns and took measures to avoid interactions with said concerned parents. I feel the best way to summarize the student experience is that they are treated as the I.D. number they are assigned and nothing more. Any prestige or accolades this school celebrates are not in any way a accurate representation of this institutions current educational prowess. After four years at this school I can say with certainty that this school has seen a massive degradation in quality and your children will NOT be cared for.

Awesome, no complaints, nurturing environment , great lunch program, super students/faculty, like family. It was a pleasure to be a parent there. Bill Sahm the president is sensational.

Bishop Chatard High School is an outstanding high school and one of the primary reasons that I have been successful in my life. First and foremost, Bishop Chatard provided me an outstanding education that prepared me extremely well for college. Bishop Chatard also allowed me to grow because of the focus it puts on developing the whole person. I truly believe that my experiences at Bishop Chatard have given me the foundation to understand my religion better, understand many different people, react and adjust to life experiences better, and provided me a greater sense of the importance of community and impacting it positively.

I received a very high quality education from Chatard and had no trouble adjusting to college academics. My teachers were knowledgeable and experienced. However, I struggled to fit in with the social environment. When I attended BCHS, it was extremely focused on athletics and if you were not an athlete or part of an established family at the school, you were not on the social radar. I was bullied terribly by my classmates and did not feel comfortable telling the administrators. I felt there was a lot of favoritism and because my bullies were popular and in sports, no one would care. It got so bad I was begging my mother to switch me to a public school my senior year. I honestly feel I would have had many more friends and a much more positive experience at North Central or another public school, especially if I had taken honors or accelerated classes there, I think I would have had an equally good college prep education. I honestly do not have many positive memories of Chatard other than the good education I received.
