My child had some early development issues with ADHD. I do not think he would be where he is right now without Ms. Hayden and her guidance on how to involve the school system and all the resources to help him cope and grow with his disability. My child is a different kid now. FMA is an amazing place for kids to grow and thrive.

AMAZING School. My daughter used to cry everyday on the way to her former preschool and when we switched she would talk everyday about how excited she was to go. The principal (Katie) is amazing along with my daughter’s preschool and kindergarten teacher (a different Katie). My spouse and I are both teachers and simply love the school. The only downside is that you can not switch to public school for kindergarten. Once you have seen the teachers in action you will stay through 3rd grade. This school is the single best thing about living in Huron. I had to write this after reading the one bad review , it boggles my mind that someone could write that. If there is any place on earth that treats everyone as equals with respect it is FMA and Director Katie. It shocks me how the kids are treated as equals and act like adults. Preschool kids work for hours with concentration that most adults don’t have. I am a FMA fan for life.

My child spent 5 years here, and then due to a relocation entered a new school system. Our new school system is highly rated and known for its rigorous academic curriculum. We were a little nervous because of the switch, but we should not have been- our daughter was SO far ahead in every category. Academically, the homework and assessments she completed bored her and her teachers needed to give her supplemental work to keep her engaged. Socially, she was able to make friends easily and adapt to a new classroom with no issues. Firelands Montessori prepared her to be an independent lifelong learner.

The only reason I am posting is because of the negative comment I read below. We have had our child enrolled in FMA for 4 years now (2 before the new Head of School and 2 since she took over). Our experiences have been WONDERFUL! I can not think of one thing to complain about in the four years we have been there. The teachers truly care about the children, regardless if they are in their class or not. I feel my child is leaps and bounds above where they would be in a public school environment. The teachers work with our child on an individual basis, and focus on the strengths and weaknesses of each child. As far as giving specialized treatment, the only thing I can say is... if you are engaged in your child's education, they will focus on informing the parents of the progress, which is excellent. The school is caring, loving, and helpful and expect the same from there students. AMAZING SCHOOL WITH AMAZING PERSONNEL!

My son is a preschooler in FMA, and I have had the most wonderful experiences with the school, the teachers, and the new principal. From my experiences, she communicates well with the parents, is particularly gentle with the students, and, like all of the teachers and staff, is selfless and giving. When my son had a medical emergency, she rode in the ambulance and brought dinner to my husband and I in the hospital. The classroom teachers and staff are dedicated educators. I see a marked improvement in my child's autonomy, self-control, and socialization that I can attribute directly to Miss Tami, Miss Ann, Miss Neoshun, and Miss Simone. He loves going to school, and I can't say enough about the quality of education provided by FMA.

The new Head of School is a California Progressive that does not want children with special needs at this school. She has no experience teaching elementary or secondary school age children. Her experience in education is pre-school age children which may explain why a majority of the children in school are preschoolers. If you advocate for your child they will bring in one of the lawyers from their board of trustees to bully you into submission. When I came in to observe the classroom it seemed like the teachers are more interested in their next cup of coffee than teaching the students. If you are a lawyer, doctor, business owner or independently wealthy they will break their neck catering to your kids. Several families have already decided not to return next year because of some of the staff, especially the Head of School. I would not recommend this school unless they hire a new Head of School.
