We have been at Terrace for 2 1/2 years after transferring mid-year kindergarten from another local private school. The private, high tuition school has zero comparisons to Terrace. After a hard start to school with my 5 year old, we were scared to move her mid-year to a public school. Terrace has been such a blessing. This school is filled with love, compassion and they are passionate about every student. It is very evident the principal, Mr. Gomez loves Terrace. He embodies ‘no child left behind’. He uplifts the school in so many ways, including daily speaker messages reminding kids they are loved. His leadership runs directly into staff. Every teacher, special education staff and office admin have been nothing but kind. I have nothing bad to say about Terrace, and that says a lot given the current status of public school funding.Terrace Elementary is a hidden gem in Spring Branch.

Since Mr. Gomez started as the new principal in 2021, Terrace has improved by leaps and bounds. Student performance and attendance have all gone up due to his leadership and involvement. My child has attended kindergarten and first grade here (also starting second grade in fall 2023) and she could not be happier or doing better in school. She is a GT student and receives extra/advanced GT curriculum once a week. The PTA at Terrace is also fantastic - they provide so many opportunities for parent participation and fun events for the students.

Our experience at Terrace has been fantastic. My kindergartner goes to school excited every day and comes home with that same excitement. The teachers and staff have built a great community at Terrace.

Terrace has been an amazing experience for my son. He does have special education needs and he is thriving due to the constant support and encouragement that is provided by not only his teachers and specialists, but everyone that surrounds him each day. Every teacher he is has had thus far has provided the tools and skills he needs to succeed in his continued journey. Everyday he is excited to attend school. It is an awesome community of staff and parents that work together to meet the needs of the children.

It is inspirational to be on campus at Terrace and watch the teachers and staff interact with the students. I find them to be loving and supportive; they always emphasize empathy and compassion. My student is considered “academically gifted” and her special requirements are met by her teachers and the support staff. She NEVER wants to miss school. The teachers spend countless hours after school preparing creative, appropriate lessons that meet the variety of needs of their students.Terrace’s principal sets the tone for a school filled with love and caring. The librarian is one of the most creative teachers that I’ve ever seen. The PTA is incredibly active; the parents are very involved.Terrace is a hidden jewel.

I sent two children to Terrace and was torn when my youngest had to leave due to moving to another district. They both loved the school. What I liked most about Terrace is the level of teacher involvement. With the exception of only one year (my daughter's 2nd grade year), my kids had the luck of the draw with their teachers. They are very in tune to the kids and very communicative with the parents. They were great about making time for the parents and communicated timely via email or even phone calls. There were instances, where there were issues with other students, but I do feel the school handled any occurrences quickly, appropriately and without bias for either student. Terrace is smaller than most schools in Houston; which a plus in my opinion. Both my kids have since moved to larger schools and now the one-on-one parent/teacher communication is gone. I do think, however, that Terrace could use some improvement academically. Terrace is a population of close-nit students and teachers and you defnitely feel like you belong when you go there. I give Terrace 4.5 starts out of 5!
