this school is the best because of this pto do party and do field day that comes with kona ice and much more because the teacher they are the best like one in 4th grade because with learning all about math,reading,etc and is the best she help in everything.

This school is horrible this would be my kid's first year here. My kids came home saying kids were cursing, fighting, and screaming. The teachers are threatening, screaming, and bullying kids. I am not going to say all teachers but this one in particular needs to be removed immediately. This teacher does not need to be in the class she's petty, unconcerned, and does not follow accommodations. The school has a low reaction to parents' concerns and you will get the run around if there is a concern about teachers interacting with the students. This teacher will tell kids things like go tell your parents I don't care I'll quit! I would rather she would because she's the reason why kids hate school. Don't work with elementary children if you dislike them because this would be the time you as an educator will have the most impact on your students. Do not go here, please! I am telling you if your kids came from a great school district this will not be it!

The School administration team exhibits a visceral understanding of what it takes to educate students in an urban setting. The administration team can best be described as a collection of pseudo- intellectuals at best. Over a three-year period, the staff turnover rate is greater than 70%. Many of the gifted young teachers that were making an impact left the district due to the dishonest nature of the current principal. The three surrounding schools are even worst. The district seems to promote from within. The problem with that is most of the schools that these aspiring principals come from were failing schools. A parent would be wise and look to IDEA public school on Rankin. They have an experienced staff and provide a degree of education that puts students in a position to be competitive in middle and high school.

Heritage is a great school. I've found them to be very caring and understanding regarding my son's education. Ms. Dunlap and Ms. Weston ensure that problems are resolved in a timely manner. Yes, I would agree that kids may act inappropriate sometime. But training starts at home, we can't expect teachers to raise our children. Is't that the parents responsibility? Kudo's to the teachers and the staff.

Principals are very careless there there to get pay not to discipline there students. Also there more racism from there point of you. My daughter was going there and was bullied and threat by several other students. Students are very careless about other classmates feelings and rude to there teachers. The way of discipline never change the student the issue never change.

Heritage has really gone down recently. They are so busy addressing dress code, but not on school academics. Basically a fourth grader is doing a 1st grader course. Hardly ever hace homework, I had to finally pull my kids out and put They in a private school, so they can catch up to their true grade level.

This school is horrible! Teachers have attitudes it's obvious they don't want to be there. The school is bad about communicating things to parents, especially in a timely manner. They do absolutely nothing to involve parents. Several good teachers who have been at Heritage for quite some time have left to other schools. The staff at the front desk are extremely rude and are bad about relating messages.

My son attended Heritage Elementary and I had very few problems with his teachers. They kept me informed about his grades as well as his behavior in class. They offered tutorials and Saturday school to ensure his success. I was pleased with the staff and the many opportunities and activities the school provides for the students. There are no perfect schools, just schools striving to do the best they can with what they have. And Heritage is one of those schools that have tried and is trying to build a successful foundation for students.

Most teachers at this school behave as if this was just a job and do not treat what they do as a profession. Not all but most behave as if they were simply babysitting and do not offer any help to struggling kids who are unable to learn due to large classroom sizes. In the words of the 3rd grade teacher who I asked to help me try to get my sons grades up "I can not give him anymore attention that the rest" I then asked if he could take the work he wasn't finishing due to the fact he didn understand her and she replied "Sure after I grade it, he can take it home and finish but Im not giving him credit". I then realized she didnt care about him learning. She as pathetic as having a Doctor who doesn't care to heal patients. My son now goes to Abiding word on Red Oak its been a blessing.

Teachers are young and inexperienced. More focus is spent on discipline than the child learning. For the involved parents, very hard to get replies back from the teachers. Get low or minimum input on how to effectively be involved in teaching the students at home.
