We are in the process of pulling all three of our children out of Alice Smith (after loving the school under Mrs. D). Our experience with the new principal and leadership has been horrible and incredibly disappointing. We are so sad to have experienced how much things have changed. Special education students in particular will not have their needs met. Raising our concerns a multitude of times with leadership was met with apathy and/or avoidance.

As of 2023 the leadership at Smith has changed. Mrs. D has left, and with her so has many of the characteristics that made Alice Smith a wonderful, diverse, family friendly neighborhood school. The current leadership seems determined to destroy what Mrs. D and the staff valued for Smith students and families. Alice Smith is NOTHING like the school it was under her leadership. Valued staff have left, the staff remaining, as well as current families, express ongoing frustration with the lack of academic support, transparent communication, and ineffective leadership from the current principal. If you are thinking of buying a home in this attendance area, visit Alice Smith, talk to current grade level teachers, and current families to determine if this school, this school district, is a good fit for your family.

Our experience has been wonderful. The community and atmosphere at the school is inviting and exciting. Everyone at the school is so friendly and loving, and the teachers and principal are just plain great at their jobs. Couldn't ask for a better experience.

We feel all students are supported and encouraged at Alice Smith Elementary, and there's good partnerships/relationships between teachers, staff, parents, and community.

There are real efforts that go into this school. From the committed teachers, involved parents and enthusiastic principle there is really a great feel of community, inclusion and fun in this school. The education is outstanding and child opportunities are abundant. HIGHLY recommend this school!!

Alice Smith is a wonderful welcoming neighborhood school with a dedicated staff of caring teachers. My kids love going to school and I love the quality education and diversity of students!

Alice Smith staff work hard to differentiate lessons for each student's needs. My kids have been in the gifted program and have thrived. We also love the diversity of each class - it's a true real-world community. We appreciate the teachers and their experience and care for their students. We have loved it at Alice Smith!

I felt that there could have been an intervention in the little girl's life before she wasted so many years going to school and hating it. Unfortunately, she has fallen way behind her peers.

The principal here is just plain awesome! He really cares about the kids. The teachers are top notch. Our third grade teacher was the best! She made learning fun and she wants to be there. Parent involvement is very good. Parents go above and beyond to help out.

I am a parent at Alice Smith Elementary. We are extremely happy with the school and the education our children receive. The principal is top notch. She knows each child by name, greets them warmly, and really makes them feel like they belong. The staff is excellent. They really seem to like where they are. They are enthusiastic, love the kids and love teaching. We are very pleased with the small class sizes (20, 21 in kindergarten). I also appreciate the way the teachers collaborate and support each other. There are great evening events that focus on academics, such as family engineering night and the Imagination Fair. We are also pleased with the Gifted and Talented program and teacher. Lots of individual attention and support. We are very pleased with the warm, caring community where each child is encouraged to do their best. We love the diversity of Alice Smith. It's a beautiful school with beautiful children. Another great aspect of the school is the involvement and support of the community. Everyday there are caring adults who work with students on an individual basis. We are extremely happy to belong to this school.
