This school is a joke. The communication with families is TERRIBLE. There is no parental involvement unless you sign up for the PTSA. You literally have no idea what’s going on in your children’s classroom; there is such poor family engagement that it is honestly dreadful. The principal seems to not care anything about the students’ trajectory or the major problems that inhibit the children’s wellness and attitudes about school. It truly leaves much to desire, but locals permit this type of passive approach to our children’s well being, so it likely will not change.

My son went to kindergarten here and is now in first grade. In kindergarten he was in a mixed class with kids of various mild special needs. there were 2 teachers for a class of 12 and I believe 4 assistants! This was a great ratio that enabled the students to get constant help. We had on going behavioral issues and received constant updates, support, suggestions, counseling etc. I can’t imagine a better experience! Now in a non special Ed first grade, our son is thriving and using all the skills he had learned from the previous year. My only reason for not giving 5 stars is that I think he hasn’t been academically challenged for his personal growth. I understand why that would be difficult though. Great friendly staff and festive school days often. We love hearing kids music as we drop him off. Just builds a really warm, fun atmosphere unlike our west Oahu elementary school experience.

Our experience with Hahaione Elementary has exceeded all our expectations! Its teachers and administrators have gone above and beyond for my kids over the years. They have made such a difference in the lives of my children, it's hard to know where to begin. First of all, Principal Goo, the teachers, and the rest of the staff care immensely about the children and you notice that your day to day interactions with everyone. Second, the kids enjoy their learning experiences and their time at school as if it was a second home. That was not my experience as a child, so it's so nice to see that happening for my own children. Last, when there are challenges that need to be addressed the school is very responsive, solution-oriented, and very willing to work with us.I'd like to add that for those with negative comments, that may be their experience but keep in mind that everyone has their own expectations of a school. Hahaione has been a fantastic part of our lives and I hope it will be for you as well!

Principal Capi Goo is a heartless incompetent principal, who cares more about being the next superintendent than the needs of the kids.Curriculum is not consistent from various teachers in the same grade. Some give loads of homework, and some give none.Communication from teacher to parent is minimal to none existent. The less you know the better for the school.I also agree with previous comments about bullying. Little is done. It’s dismissed and swept under the rug.

My two children love their teachers and friends at Haha'ione. As a parent, I love the open communication from the teachers and administration and have never had any issues getting my questions answered. One of my children has special needs and we've always felt his needs are being met. All our meetings with the staff, including the principal, have always been supportive and centered on helping our child. We've had positive experiences with the teachers and feel like our concerns have always been met with a collaborative problem-solving approach. There are a lot of involved families who have done a lot to keep the community strong during the pandemic.

My two children, ages 6 & 9, have attended Haha’ione Elementary School since kindergarten. We have been very pleased with the school, teachers, and administrators. The teachers & staff go above and beyond to not only give quality education through project based, hands on learning but also make the students feel genuinely cared for. We love being a part of the Haha’ione ohana and recommended this school highly.

Our kids have loved all of their teachers at Hahaione Elementary. Throughout the pandemic the teachers and staff have been amazing with communication and making sure the kids have been on track. They challenge the students and not once have my kids dreaded going to school. They have made amazing friends there. The administration and PTSA have worked so hard to reinstate A+, bring all of the kids back in for in person face-to-face learning, maintained social distancing and a safe campus. We feel lucky and proud to have our children at Hahaione Elementary!

All the teachers here are kind and very informative. My son’s 5th grade teacher Mr. Bradley is SO helpful for me and my son. He does so much to help my kid really excel in academics, while making the classroom environment fun and kid-learning friendly. GREAT JOB!!!

I have 2 kids in Hahaione and I'm having the worst experience I could imagine...It's out first full year in the school. In almost 6 years of preschool and elementry in other places never had anything similar.I completly agree with the prior review, hoping is not to late to apply for GE to move my kids to another school.

This School has changed a lot since former principal, vice principal and Mrs.Amber left in 2014. School is losing parent volunteers to help school events, too. I was very active parents at this school, but do not feel like helping anymore. Students are losing motivation and the school is making them feel frustrated. This school does not discipline children, but punish them. (5th grade students won't be able to participate in their school trip after receiving one referral letter, and second one? they won't be able to participate in their graduation party on the last day!!!) Our children deserve good teachers and a great leader at school to help them, teach them and guide them.

My son is in the second grade and is having a good experience so far. Amber Stanley, a first grade teacher, is absolutely fantastic. My son has blonde hair and blue eyes and we've never sensed any discrimination as described by another poster. I would like to know which teacher in particular she is referring to. I gave only 4 stars because there's always room for improvement, right?
