I have nothing good to say about this school. Academically, I felt my child was given a ton of busy work and not challenged. It's really sad, because the school is pushed by so many as being amazing. The principal, assistant principal and counselors don't care about the kids and school safety is not a priority. I would never send a child there again. I'm really glad I pulled my child out.

This is not a school you want to send your child if you want them to learn basics like math and science and it’s definitely not a school to send your kid to prepare for high school or real life. They barely teach any basic fundamental education and then when they do there really is no deadlines and if you don’t do well on a project or test on your first try, you can just keep retaking and resubmitting until you get a grade that you’re satisfied with. When in the real world or even in high school are you allowed to scoff at deadlines and redo projects and tests until you’re satisfied? What kind of life lessons is that teaching our kids?! Not to mention that if you ever call the office with questions or concerns, you almost never get a return call. And my child has a medical issue which makes it so that when she feels the need to use the bathroom, she needs to go asap or she will likely have an accident. I notified all the proper people at the beginning of the schoop year along with doctors notes yet they still do not allow her to use the restroom except for very specific times, so she has gotten in “trouble” and sent to detention numerous times for being 2 or 3 minutes late to class even though she notified her teachers as to exactly what she’s doing ahead of time. Then, because it’s a performing arts school, one would expect that at least their performances would be above average yet the sound systems are garbage so you can’t hear the kids that sing and the dance music is always subpar, plus they have these performances that you have to pay to attend, this is after paying for costumes etc. and most kids, during an hour long performance only get to do one dance/performance, meanwhile all of their family members pay for tickets, show up to watch our kids, and then only get to see them “on stage”, if you can call it that, for about 5 minutes total. This seems to be much more of a business than an educational facility. Do not send your kid here. They’re much better off gaining a normal middle school experience that prepares them for the next level both educationally and socially. How many middle school kids k ow exactly what they want to do when they grow up anyways and stick to that all the way through middle school and high school. None. So the kids are really missing out on experiencing and learning different things that expand their horizons.

As a student who goes here, this school is horrible, it has great majors, but the teachers are really rude. If you forget to ask to go to the bathroom at lunch, you will get a lecture about how you should always ask and then they give you lunch detention. Overall, this school is TRASHHH

My son came to this school the year of pandemic and after getting his 5th grade experience just shut down and not promotion to middle school other then virtually talking with teacher. This 2023 8th grade class had to experience their first year of middled school virtually and confused with no celebration of even making into Middle school. Now comes the time for them to start high school and only those that are receiving an award are aloud to be celebrated. This school is a great School but it's one major fault is they only proved events for a certain about of students and either sell out of tickets or cant provide an 8th grade promotion celebration for the entire 8th grade. How is this ok? Why did they not consider every 8th grader such as the ones that struggles for half the time in adjusting to middle school but they made it to with other achievements the overcame personally? They made it through the pandemic and showed up after all the nationwide panic. This post is to advocate for all the students who didn't get invited to the award ceremony. It's not ok.

I feel very disappointed that Thurman white can’t even have an 8th grade ceremony graduation for the students, every school has them and I have asked various staff and no one can’t seem to give me an actual answer as to why the students can’t have a ceremony

I enjoy this school and their activities are very entertaining. The school has a lot of fun showcases and festivals for the students to attend and perform in. There are tons of rumors by the students but the school can't forcefully control that.

My daughter has had approachable teachers that build a rapport with students. She has made good friends and enjoys being in the magnet program.

To be completely honest and fair, most teachers and staff are remarkable and compassionate. However, the racism is unreal within the students; the trolling on how a child chooses to dress (if it isn't name brand), and the some of the teachers/faculty's lack of faith in our children in general make me question why they chose their career. This campus is so diverse, but the extremities of low moral values takes it's toll on even the friendliest of children. Take the girl Hailee who committed suicide a few years back. Nothing has changed. I have wildly different children, but the consistent patterns in social behavior versus educational goals have not wavered in years. It's all about your threads and this repulsive sense of entitlement. How disappointing because this could really be such a great school. Good luck.

The Principal and staff at this school are absolutely amazing. I have been through numerous middle schools since moving into Clark County and none of them have come close in comparison to Thurman White. Communication with teacher and administration at this school is wide open. I love this school and both of my children that attend do to. I am so grateful!

This school was a fantastic school once upon a time. Now I just can't wait until my kid can be done there. The administration is horrible, the bullying is out of control, and almost no one seems to care at all. The only redeeming quality this school has is that most of the teachers still seem to care, the problem is there is not much they can do when the powers that be don't care. Since Dr. Welsh left there has been a steep and steady decline at this school in every aspect, from academics to the brutality of the student body. I will move before I let another of my kids go through this school.
