Students are overtly rude and mean so are the teacher who discipline more than they teach. They don’t give any acknowledgment to students sides.

Honestly, I'm a senior here and I've been with this school since freshman year and I've got some things to say. The schools "block schedule" is pretty long and it gives the students the mindset of the fact that they can't complete work in a 30-40 min period and need an hour and 20 mins to do a thing. The lunch sizes are more for a 2nd grader, we're teens we need more fuel than a 8 year old. I did notice I was able to wear my hat without getting in trouble, but never told us why that changed. I do remember there was a hard lockdown all over a food fight and I don't think anyone thought there was a food fight. They used to have a phone policy, but no one's really making us follow it anymore, especially after the pandemic. *Homework*Some say that they never give out homework, but it does depend on the teacher. *Learning*This one's a 50/50. They did downgrade the Video Production program (e.x. The 3's were learning things that the 1's should know more than us.), I heard they're removing personal finance math (which why....), and sometimes the lessons aren't so engaging that I'm just bored for the hour and 20 mins. *Social-emotional support*I haven't had much experience with this so I can't really comment.*Special Education*I personally have an IEP and I feel like they do a pretty good job on accommodating me with my IEP, although the teachers haven't really helped too much.*Safety*Sometimes, I do feel unsafe coming here. It's more about if a fights gonna happen because I remember when 2 kids were fighting, the most they did was spray pepper spray at everyone and I was right there where it happened.

Fighting almost everyday during both lunches. Constant pepper spray. Quad is somewhat nice. Most teachers are meh, but some are dope. I haven't learned a single thing.

If your kids don't recieve nurturing support at home and you blame the school for the the outcome, that your fault. I have one in and 3 graduated from Basic Academy. 2 who have graduated in the allotted time with a business degree and engineering degree at Point Loma University. One is teaching and the other is the head of the engineering department at the largest commercial refrigeration company on the West Coast. My other son graduated from the Coast Guard Academy with a Nautical Engineering degree and is currently traveling through the Panama Canal as an officer. They have other students who have graduated from Duke and Georgetown with full ride schorships and Berkeley. They have had Senators and congressmen who have graduated from Basic Academy. They have an amazing student counsel leadership program. They have their own homecoming parade, full dinner prom and letter on the side of a mountain for seniors to paint. Clark County is one of the largest school districts, the resources are there, its up to you how well your child will do. The school is one of the many tool you have in your arsenal to help them grow into something great.

7/10, because although it needs work, there is a valiant effort being made to make the school better.

My son is going on his third year and plans to graduate here as he gets excellent grades, enjoys his teachers and classes. The counselors are great as well. The school seems to strive to success. The IB is a great program too and the AP classes. My son is in both and loves that he is getting college ready already!

All of the reviews except one are from 2015 or older. This is a great school still saddled down by a poor reputation from the past. This school really started turning it around the 2015-2016 school year. This school has taken off since with an influx of IB teachers from other schools and young hires. It's a magnet school now for IB. It's hard to have such a great environemnt and set of teachers for a low income school, but Basic Academy is is doing it.

Currently in the school writing this. i came in today to see the whole school covered in Red-solo cups and toilet paper. The other day people were popping off stink bombs. The hall monitors will stop you if you are wearing a hat, but apparently a beanie is fine? The teachers are all giving projects at the time of finals. We don't even know what's on our finals! All i learned in honors English 9 was how to help the community. the only class i learned in and enjoyed was algebra 1. The CCSD is so confused, it's just falling apart.

Th worst school if you wanna talk to your counselor. Also if you are ever so different by the slightest people thing you're from another planet this school is so super white washed. If very to little diversity. only a handful of great teachers and students. Overall, ok school to go to but would I ever send my Kid here in the future.... NOPE.

Basic is such a great school. I went there already for a year and everyone was saying how bad it was. They said that the teachers don't help, and the students are criminals. That is absolutely wrong! The teachers are always there to help when we need it. And I new so many other students from every other grade level. They were not criminals. They were the best of friends you could ask for. If you ask me this school will let you be yourself and go at your own pace.

ParentLink software to monitor your child's grades has issues that staff is unable to resolve. Some classes do not get grade updates posted and teachers and school admit to not having a solution. ParentLink, the software company, only says to have the school contact them. In the long run, we are nearly done with the school year and I'm still not able to see updates for all classes. Some teachers are very passive and don't correct students when they aren't staying on task. Requests for parent teacher conferences are not responded to by guidance counselor.

Well, I'm a former student and just called to ask for transcripts, was directed to the wrong person 3 times, and whoever you have answering your phones needs to be replaced IMMEDIATELY. The staff of this school, with exception of a few, has ALWAYS been terrible. I graduated in 2000. With honors... And my name was miss-spelled on my diploma... If that tells you anything else about this "school"... I'm simply needing a transcript for license in my current state, under the board of Cosmetology. After explaining FIVE times, that "no, I'm not tryyyying to go to school. I've been a hair stylist for 10 years. I just need this for THE STATE BOARD OF KANSAS to obtain a NEW license!!!???" Get it together BASIC. Brings me back though... All I ever learned at Basic High School was how NOT to do things. Looks like not much has changed. That's Henderson for ya. I'm extremely disappointed right now. And embarrassed that I ever attended this school.

i have attended basic for 2 years. and all this school is, is minority students ruining the somewhat functioning system of what they call "education" constantly cussing at teachers, interrupting and being down right disrespectful to teachers that are trying to get their job done. transferring to foothill next year for sure.
