Hector High School is more involved and proud of the sports. Athletes are treated specially and the others, such as those in the music programs and art programs are not. Funding goes more to the sports and technology that isn't even used by most of those who don't even need them. We have maybe two teachers in grades 9-12 who requires use of technology for their classes. People get away with having prayer circles and some get away with drug activity. We don't focus more on learning what we need to get a decent score on the ACT, and some of the teachers don't even teach. Teachers pick favorites and they basically let everyone know it. Some of the teachers though, are in understanding of their job. They are there to teach, not be our friends. There is bullying that goes on at the school. I am a victim of it. I have been since I begun in Hector Elementary and no one did anything to stop it even though there is a no bullying policy. I feel that the higher ups need to do their jobs. There aren't very many clubs. They got rid of the chess team and clubs like that. There is Drama club, FBLA, FCCLA, and that is about it. There are no other clubs. How can a student grow without them? They can't. Furthermore, this school sucks and I am glad to be leaving for another high school for my senior year.
