This school has refused to listen to student concerns for several years now, and will intentionally leave their doors open even during life threatening weather. I do not recommend this school.

The school is very modern and clean with friendly seasoned teachers that care about their students. They have several advanced placement classes and tons of honor class opportunities. Students have an almost unlimited availability of dual enrollment classes available to them as well. The school has lots of interesting clubs, all the common athletic programs, and a very strong supportive booster club. My kid loves to play ping pong during lunch in their expensive courtyard.

4/10 because there isn’t a lot of diversity

I attended this school for 4 years and can definitely vouch for the fact that there is little to no chance for students to excel. There are not enough AP courses, it is very hard to make an all honors schedule work and students are not generally encouraged to take honors classes. Freshmen are not told that their GPA is crucial for getting into college and eligibility for scholarships, so they don't know that they need to take honors classes. There is no push for students to succeed, the administration barely keeps the school running, the only concern is for athletic endeavors. Though sports are important, they should not be the number one focus; academics should come first in a supposedly "educational" institution. This school is a disgrace, but it is only part of the problems that plague the Wilkes County Schools in general.

The investment is the school facilities and the change in administrative leadership have made this school very attractive. While the socio/economic geography works against this school, the quality is there for students who value learning.
