Southeast Halifax High School is a school that offers a nurturing environment for teaching and learning. As a member of the teaching staff for 11 years, I can attest that this school earned the highest composite growth in EOC scores in the district, county, and state in 2012. Our graduation rate is at 91%; over $750,000 in scholarships were distributed to the graduating class of 2012. Parental involvement is positive, supportive, and committed. Our students excel because it has a lot to do with the collaboration that exists at Southeast. It truly is a great school. Submitted by a teacher, Mary Ward

SOUTHEAST USE TO BE A TOP NOTCH SCHOOL. DON'T BLAME IT ON THE STAFF. BLAME THE PARENTS. EDUCATION BEGANS AT HOME. CHILDREN TODAY REALLY DO NOT UNDERSTAND THE IMPORTANCE OF EDUCATION AND IT IS SAD. YOU CAN NOT BLAME THE TEACHERS FOR EVERY THING THAT GOES WRONG. IT IS ONLY ONE TEACHER TO A CLASS AND ABOUT 28-30 DIFFERENT PERSONALITIES WHEN IT COME TO THE STUDENTS. PARENTS NEED TO GET MORE INVOLVED.
