My son is going to the 3rd grade this year and he started in the 2nd. I must say he has overcome a lot of obstacles due to his learning disability. To have went to other school starting from kindergarten, it was hard for him to understand and learn on the level the state thinks he should have been. It took for me and Sharp school to get him the help he so badly needed because the other schools weren't listening to what I had to say about how he needed help. I am forever grateful for the staff. I love love love his teacher Ms. Curcio formally know as Ms. Proudfoot. If not for Sharp he would still be falling so far behind and I love the school staff for all the hard work they put into the students, families and community.

Sharp is a small, caring school in a great community. Teachers are dedicated, parents are involved and the kids feel safe and cared for.

As a community member, I have watched this school change into a place where teachers have high expectations and the principal does whatever it takes to make sure all students succeed.

This school is a great nurturing and diverse school filled with loving teachers who are dedicated and flexible and motivate the kids to thrive. I have 2 kids (K and 2nd grades) who love going to school each day since day 1. Their K teacher (Ms Phillips) is the epitome of what a K teacher should be, she is caring yet firm and the children respond to her in a respect that is not out of fear but out of fear of disappointing her. They thrive to have her be proud of them it's quite astonishing to see those little faces look up to her that way. As a library volunteer I have the pleasure of meeting and interacting with all the students and teachers and I am very proud to call this my children's school. Keep up the great work Dr. Principato (the principal) your doing a great job, and the kids love the STEAM special classes like MakerSpace!

I have three children at Sharp. They love their school and I have been very pleased with it as well. The teachers and staff are great. The "2" rating that Sharp has on here does it a great disservice. I hope that new test score info will be posted soon.

My daughter just started Kindergarten here at Thomas-Sharp and absolutely loves it. I am really disappointed in the fact that every time you see GreatSchools Rating it states 'below standard'. How can that be when all the other schools in town as well as on a local and state level are all on the same curriculum, "the common core". We all may live in different areas and come from different and diverse backgrounds but that only enhances a childs education not take away. Our world today is progressively changing and is not what it was 30 years ago. What is done in school has an importance but it also matters what is done at home. Consider this next time you give this school a 2 out 10. Better yet, come visit it for yourself. It is a 'gold nugget' across the pike.

I am also having a very positive experience at Sharp School. I have found the administration to be very positive and helpful with my child's needs. It seems like everyone agrees that the teachers are very dedicated. Also my experience with the PTA has been that they are extremely receptive to any parent who would like to volunteer to help out. All you need to do is ask. Oh and BTW, I am parent not a staff member.

This last review is just not true. Joining the PTA or gettting involved is easy and the PTA president is very approachable, also always looking for help. So if you tried to join the PTA all you had to do was join and tell them when you are willing to help and they will gladly encourage and accept your input. also not gossipy at all so I have no idea what you are talking about. Instead of complaining get involved, instead of judging lend a helping hand. This school has some of the best teachers and I'm not one of them or staff. Also I'm a member of the PTA been to meetings have you?

My child is attending through the 2013-2014 school year. The teachers seem to really care about the kids. However if a child doesn't fit the cookie cutter plan the administrative staff isn't as welcoming. To get involved with the PTA is like pulling teeth, normal gossipy group that give others a bad name. The teachers from what we have seen are good. As far as the low scores I dont know since its our first year here but it doesn't surprise us to be honest. The leadership really needs retraining or a serious overhaul. This is the closest school to us however we are looking to change and suggest that you really look at all the schools in the district before settling for this one. When we compared and went to the other schools it was like night and day! We hope there is no issue with getting our child into a different school. If we cannot get a different school within the district we will be trying private or home schooling. I would venture to say some of these other comments are from staff and not parents.
