I’ve never met such an absolutely repulsive administration staff. If you have a child with any type of learning or behavior disability, they will treat you and your child like absolute garbage. My son was on a behavior plan last year which worked wonders and his amazing kindergarten teacher would fill it out every single day. We get to first grade we try to stay ahead of the curb and ask for the same plan to be implemented. We go through the entire first semester and the new teacher has filled this plan out maybe 5 times. Fast forward today and we get a call saying our child need is suspended and needs a mental health evaluation before they will let him back, teacher then lies and says that she filled the paper out everyday but then they took him off of it and which they had no authority to do without notifying us. If you’re child was a behavior problem before an ADHD or any type of disorder diagnosis, they will continue to label you’re child as such and will not try to talk the kids down from a high strung situation but antagonize them instead. They will not stop until they have pushed you’re child out of that school or drug them until they are zombies even if the medicine that they are on is working and just doesn’t make them a mindless, quiet kid, with no personality.

My experience at HCE has been extremely positive. The administrators, faculty, and students were welcoming and friendly.

***Warning***Worst office staff and Principal I have ever encountered! My son and 2 step children all had wonderful teachers but that is all I can say positive about the school. I have never met such cold, unsupportive, dismissive and condescending individuals that are supposed to be advocates and role models for our children. Due to the economy and job changes, our family had to move (5 minutes away) out of the school district and they kicked my 2 step children out of the school with a 4 day warning and told my oldest if she showed up to school the following Monday, she would not be allowed to ride the school bus (which they had been riding since the begining of the school year to their Grandmother's house with no problems). My son who had briefly attended another school prior to the holidays wasn't allowed to return and instead of the school letting me know this, they "did some digging" and revealed this to my family by sending notes home with our children letting them know they were being kicked out. The Principal herself, completely dismissed me, when I went up there right before the holidays to re-register my son and insinuated that it would be too much work and cost too much money for me to go through the process of getting a release from the school district and pay tuition so that he could go back to school with his siblings. On top of that, the morning we went to register our children at their new school, Harrison Central had told us the day before, they would fax withdrawal info to the school but the next day when the new school called, they acted like they didn't have a clue what children they were talking about. This is not the first time we have had this type of encounter with this school, just the worst time. If you want your children in a school that will encourage and support you and your children as a team and be an advocate for whatever their needs or situation is, DO NOT send your child to this school!!!

Our child has grown academically, and socially. She enjoys going to school everyday. She is appreciated by her teachers and peers. Everyone looks out for each other. I love that.

Amazing. I'm not sure why it gets a bad rep. But we have had an awesome experience at this school from K-3rd. They have had a lot of fun events and field trips too.

This is the worst school I have ever sent my kids to.

Teachers don't care. The school offers no tutoring programs until the end of the school year, then what good is that. Principle doesn't care or want to meet with you. Assistant principal is corpal punishment freak. I didn't even know paddling was still permitted. A little girl spits in my son's face, she doesn't get suspended or talked too, but my son talks and gets suspended for talking. If your child needs just a little help, please do not send your child here. They also hold meetings tell you that you don't have to attend but all of the time their making decisions for your child without informing you. The supposed TSP support for your child is a bunch of b.s.

My son was being bullied and physically assaulted by other children at this school. After speaking to the principal twice I hoped that they would keep a closer eye on the situation, but my kindergartner was still coming home traumatized. We moved, and we absolutely love the schools in Long Beach.

My daughter attends 1st grade, and her teacher is Mrs. Santchez. Great teacher that cares.

WE are very unsatified with our child's experience this year. We were spoiled with her kindergarten teacher Mrs. Moran. She is no longer there. The school's lack of communication is disturbing. My daughter is very smart and because of this she is really out there on her own at school. Not to mention the lice epidemic, that no one seems to be concerned about. I have seen it first hand on other children at the school, and my duaghter has gotten it 3 times, every time I go to the school to let them know they say they do not have the time to check heads. It is affecting my child because she misses school, we spend hours getting rid of it, take precautions not to get it , send her back and she just gets it again. We will be moving schools next year.
