I cannot say enough great things about this school! It was hard to find a good fit for my son, who has some sensory processing difficulties. He fit right in at Groton Community School, and made leaps and strides in his development within the first six months. If you are looking for a great pre-school, I would highly recommend GCS.

I was a student at GCS and now my daughter attends 3x week. We love the community, tenured staff, and quality of care/education she is getting. She loves to go to school everyday!

Our family loves GCS! My son started GCS in the Fall of 2021 in the two day program and is now enrolled in the 3 day program. The teachers and staff are extraordinary. They go above and beyond in their care of children. Thank you GCS!

My son started at GCS in the fall and I have been extremely impressed with this school. We were a little anxious sending him during a pandemic but GCS put our minds at ease with their strict adherence to COVID protocols. I feel confident that GCS is doing everything they can to keep children, teachers, and staff healthy. Even though we need to stay distant, we feel part of the GCS family through drop-off/pick-up, zoom meetings, and all of the opportunities to gather via zoom for fun, community-building activities. We enjoyed their Winter Workshop series via zoom, but we especially loved the Community Tour scavenger hunt in the fall. It was so nice to have the opportunity to see other families (from a safe, masked distance) while exploring areas of Groton we hadn't yet discovered. The teachers have been wonderful about regularly communicating with families via email, pictures, videos and zooms. I can feel the love they have for their jobs and the children in their classrooms. This was especially important when the school moved back to their newly renovated and expanded home on Boston Road in January. Families were able to get a tour via zoom and it's gorgeous. We are so very grateful to have this gem right in our home town.

My experience with GCS can be rated as superior. I have three children who all attended the school. The oldest in now in elementary and my other two children are still there. As a social worker, therapist, and parent, my focus in social-emotional skills, a compassionate and nurturing teaching staff, and growing a love for learning and school. I have never felt uncomfortable leaving my children in their teachers’ care, something I have never been able to say about previous providers. GCS is the best.

Overall, we have had a wonderful experience at GCS. We love our teachers and have enjoyed the curriculum. My son loved going to school every week, seeing the new activities at each station, and checking on the class pet. During the pandemic, the teachers have gone above and beyond. They modified content virtually and have been supporting the children socially, emotionally, and academically through virtual classes. We couldn’t be happier with our experience and highly recommend this preschool and community.

I feel so lucky to have found GCS. It is truly the best first school experience for my kids. We have found a true community of parents there as well. It is everything we could ever want in a preschool!

GCS is amazing! The staff is so caring and kind and they really prepare children for their next stage. My children loved it here and wanted to go to school every morning. As parents, we knew our kids were safe, having fun and learning in the most creative and interesting ways. I recommend highly GCS to all parents! It's worth every penny!

If given the choice, my son (4 years old) would attend Groton Community School 7 days a week. He truly misses the staff and teachers on non-school days. I am so lucky to have found such a caring, nurturing environment last year for my toddler. We look forward to atleast 1 more year maybe even 2 years) at GCS. I am constantly in awe of the educational lessons he come home to sharing. The schools focus on math concepts this year has been really exciting for a my son. We hear about math every night at dinner!

I could not be happier with this school! My three year old daughter is in a two day program and wishes she could be there EVERY day :) The staff is caring, knowledgeable, and makes you feel like you're part of the GCS family. The activities in which she's Involved are fun, educational, and she always has a story to tell of her experience at the end of the day. It's truly a unique and wonderful place. I look forward to little brother attending next year.

As a parent, as well as a long time educator, I could not have asked for a better early childhood experience for my children.

From Preschool to kindergarten, all the teachers are so nice and helpful. The director Linda's opinion is so professional, not only my son, my wife and I also have learnt a lot from them.

The first year at GCS was great (toddler twos program)... the second year, not so much. Once in the preschool program the teacher, while nice, seemed to lacked the appropriate knowledge in working with our child. Additionally, she was always very cryptic when speaking with the parents (not just us...many parents felt the same way). This left us feeling confused at every pickup... During this time, my child was attending the Boutwell Preschool on alternating days and receiving speech therapy. This gave me a very unique perspective on the differences between the two schools. One particular experience I think shows the differences clearly...My child has a stutter/speech delay. During circle time at GCS he would get anxious about speaking (ABC's, numbers etc) or singing. This is a very COMMON issue with kids that have a speech disfluency. It's avoidance. GCS was frustrated that he didn't want to sit at the circle and they thought that he wasn't "retaining any information or peers names".... Meanwhile at Boutwell - I asked the teacher if they were having any problems at circle time. They said "No. We saw that he got anxious about speaking at circle. So we made him the ABC pointer and he loves it. That's a common technique we use for kids struggling with speech." ABC pointer is when he stands in front of the class and points the the letter that is called out.Another time at GCS my child was speaking directly to the teacher with me standing there. She made a nasty face at him and then turned to me and said "I can never understand a word he says"... This would never happen at Boutwell with the skill set that the teachers have there. The education, qualifications and experiences of the teachers makes a world of difference if your child is not "run of the mill"... and who's child is?

Groton community school is an amazing place! I've been here for three years and I can't say enough about the teachers and the staff. They are loving and caring which is exactly what I wanted in a school for my son! They are not only interested in my son but our entire family. The school offers so many enrollment options to fit out needs. My son is challenged every day he goes into class and also always has the most fun.

Truly an amazing preschool! My son loves it here. His teachers are wonderful, caring and committed, and work hard to keep parents involved on all levels. Great playground, pets in each room, gardens patches for kids, and NAEYC accredited - so we're also assured of their high-quality program!

Groton Community School has surpassed our expectations! Our children have attended the Camp Kaleidoscope summer program in addition to their school year programs. The environment is nurturing and educational; the staff is focused on the well being and growth of every child who walks in the door. I walk away knowing my children are in very loving hands that I can trust unconditionally. My third little one will be attending the toddler program when he's old enough to gain exposure to all GSC has to offer for his preschool/pre-K needs! Check out the school website for more information and pictures of the building and grounds (the outdoor space/playground is awesome!).
