Mrs. Lefebvre has been a great teacher to my son this year! I wish this was the sentiment I felt about the entire school. We are pulling my son who has been here for two years out next year and open enrolling him back to Urbandale where he was previously. The administrative staff are just awful, rude and always make you feel like you are bothering them. The pick and drop off system is time consuming and terrible. Also the way the kids are let out at the end of the day to "find their parent at a designated spot" is negligent and not safe. This school drives for high scores but I think lacks trying to develop the child as the whole lifelong learner.

South Prairie is a student-focused, results driven elementary that gives children of all skill levels opportunites to improve and excel. I am a mother of two girls, one going into 3rd and one going into Kindergarten. My younger daughter attended preschool at South Prairie this past year. My older daughter participated in BLAST (additional assignments to further academic excellence) in Math and Research. BLAST is provided for a variety of subjects, so if your child shows extra skills in something but is right on track or struggles with another subject, they may still be asked to participate in this advancement program, which I think is awesome. The facilities are great. We live close to South Prairie and walk to the playground all the time. If you are looking to move to an area where children matter to the school system, South Prairie and the Dallas Center - Grimes Schools is the place for you.
