GHS is an OKAY school but some teachers have their "favorites" that they show more attention to. Another thing is Dress code. They will send your to In school detention or sometimes send you home if you're out of dresscode. Which is more important? An Education or Uniform? That's really the only rule they in force. Gun issues has also occurred. The school responded to this by installing metal detectors ONLY for visitors who come to the school NOT for students. *Being that A STUDENT was the one with the gun.

Well as someone who went through major transitions at this school I am very disappointed in the school officials. I doesn't take long to realize that the "Grenada Band" is more important than academics. Teachers get in trouble if they keep students from going to band in order for them to finish their work. I graduated three years ago and it has gone downhill. GHS has a major drug problem and it needs to be addressed and anyone who gets their feeling hurt by random drug searches needs to leave. Another thing, half of the baseball and football team are smoking pot among other things. The classes are not challenging b/c half the students can't read and the teacher has to stop teaching. These classes do not prepare you for college at a university or anywhere for that matter.

This school district is not focused on the kids education...it's more of a minimum security prison that's focused on behavior modification than on academics. My experiences with the administration left a lot to be desired, and many of the stories my child brings home about the classroom atmosphere are quite disturbing. I would not recommend this school district unless your child is in elementary school.
