I’m a mentor in the unique program at TKE which allows myself and others to mentor the students there. It fosters personal development and aids in the care of the students. Every time I visit everyone is so pleasant and has inviting personalities. The school is well-kept and all students are treated with the upmost respect.

They have plenty for the kids to participate in. The teacher do what they can with what they have. I commend them.

Avoid this school! The behavioral issues in the classrooms require the teachers to act as parents and teach proper behavior, leaving little time to actually educate. The children who are well behaved are ignored and receive little to no education, time, or attention. The school social worker gave a talk on truancy that included these two "gems" of information: "School is the only place that children can learn." & "There are no books on parenting." Learning can and does take place everywhere, and there are countless books on the subject of parenting. She is the "intelligent" person in charge of the well being of the children in the school, so it is any wonder the children with behavior trouble is a constant problem, never solved?

T.E.K. Is an excellent school! My (2) children attended this school for two years and both of my girls made the honor roll and pulled up their grades. Ms. Wineberger and Mrs. Browning were their teachers and they made such an impact on my children. We had to relocate and change schools last year. Since then their grades have dropped a bit. Also, the staff at the new school and level of communication between parents and teachers pales in comparison to T.E.K. If I had a choice, I would drive my girls to Thomas E. Kerns everyday, despite the commute!
