My children have loved attending Ottway school. The teachers are highly qualified and truly care about the students. The OSA (parent teacher association) is very involved and brings a great community involvement into the school. The class sizes are small which gives extra attention to each student. My children are excelling both academically and socially at Ottway.

Ottway Elementary School is the worst school in Greene County. They do not me involved in my childs education. I have made attempts to communicate with the teacher but have not recieved the feedback I was hoping for. I feel like my hands are tied for lack of knowledge about what's going on in the classroom. My children have been in other schools where I was given weekly letters and suggestions about how to help my childs studies for that week and where the teachers shared with me how my child was doing. I do not get anything of the sort here. Also, I feel that the school activities are unorganized, the teachers are unaware of them, and I have wasted my time and money having my children participate in them.

Ottway has been such a waste of my children's education. There is no since in having an IEP, they want follow it. I keep being told my child is doing well, until I get his report card and it is all "F's". Strikes are handed out like candy around there. And if a teacher has a problem with 1 child they will find reasons to take it out on your other ones. Most of the so called teachers there need to FIRED!!! My husband and I have had meeting after meeting with the middle school teachers, IEP and the principlal and nothing has ever been done to better either one of my children's education. The teachers don't want parent involvement because then you will really see how your children are treated. A monkey could do a better job than the zoo that is already there.

Great school, great teachers. Small classes so each student gets plenty of teacher time. No complaints at all about Ottway, but as another poster here said, it would be nice if they had more funds to work with.

Upon enrolling my child I stopped @ the office to learn about the school and What they had to offer. Huge mistake got nasty answers and a lot of eye rolling, I had no problem with meeting the teacher. We sat down and I explained to her about my child and what I was looking for in his education. ( My child is gifted ) There is no program in place until the 3rd grade. Ty to his teacher for going above and beyond to accommodate his needs. The OSA ( pta) I am totally disgusted with some of their fund raising programs. On a final note, The school is poor. Many teachers are forced to spend their own money to buy supplies. Not acceptable. So please ask the teacher if there are supplies they are in need of or donate money to the classroom. A little bit of help goes a long way in the teacher/ parent relationship. The principle? Well let's just say he can't be bothered.
