As a parent of students at this school and a teacher at another school, I have to say there is a difference at NVA. This difference can be seen in the areas of academic expectations, behavioral expectations, subjects of study. It's the only school I have ever encountered in which students in kindergarten and first grade memorize the preamble to the U.S. Constitution, and study the basics of astronomy, biology, and history. All in addition to getting excellent instruction in the standard reading and math skills. From what I've seen, this excellence in learning expectation carries all the way through to the high school level.

As a junior, having attended NVA for 9 years now, I can verify that this is an institution of excellence, whose belief is that the advancement and diffusion of knowledge is the only true guardian of liberty. This really isn't a place for those who don't value their education, that is why we have public schools. If you as a parent want what is best for your child, you can send them here; They still will not succeed if they do not want to. Bullying does not exist, and in the rare instances that it occurs, it is met with overwhelming force by student, and devastating consequence by staff. NVA is a patriotic and academically oriented school. There are few clubs, and sports are done through the surrounding school districts. Student-athletes must pass a weekly grade check for participation in sports. The teachers are excellent. These teachers care about their students far more than any institution I have ever known. They help you when you are stuck, they will stay after school to help you, or arrange times to tutor you. When your emotions overwhelm your ability to function academically and socially, they will help you. Hardly a week can go by before I see a teacher console a distraught and broken student, listening to them rant and cry about their traumatizing endeavors, and atrocious home life, and I have seen every teacher and administrator do so, on several accounts. There are many academic resources to every student's disposal, including a fast forward fund dedicated to costly AP and DC courses. Students that barely care to do the bare minimum graduate with a diploma, if they're lucky. Students that value their education, and make the most of every minute they are given, students with respect for the institution and themselves, can walk out of these doors with an Associates Degree. At NVA, there is no excuse for failure. It is a choice, and that choice is your own. There will come a time when we will open and close our locker for the last time. Say goodbye to our teachers for the last time. At North Valley Academy, every class is a family, with a love and bond unknown and unexplainable to any other. The day will come, when we must say goodbye to our family, the only love and pride some of us have ever known, and we will walk out of these doors for the last time. A more immense pain is not known to me. We decide while we are here what we take with us in our finest hour. Some of us will leave with the only thing we posses: our education. And with that, we must build the life we want to live, within the world we wish to live it in.

The school switch from a teacher based education to a computer based education system which they call a blinded education. There is no classroom structure in the school now. They allow the student to pick a classroom and a computer to work on any subject they want and with any one they want. Testing is done the same way with no teacher supervision.
