The district's chromebook does not let me access my language keyboard which make me harder to do in writing assignment.

I came in to this school to make a difference. My students were the best part of the experience. The leadership is was causes high teacher turnover every year. It is ineffective and not on the same page and does not keep students accountable. There is nepotism because the principal is so invested in wrestling that those students get special treatment and the assistant principal has a son in the wrestling program who also gets special treatment. All the other students know this and they do not feel as valued.

Many AP opportunities, many sport opportunities, safe environment and many clubs and events for the students to participate in. They have an excellent dual immersion program for spanish language and a bio technology track as well.

Heard horror stories about Gilroy. Read the great schools reviews and noticed that the review were quite a while ago. I moved to the area and was concerned. I called school and asked to speak to the principal... I was amazed that he was available and answered all my questions. He asked me if I wanted to visit the school with my daughter. He took us for a tour! I was very surprised to see a very neat orderly and clean school. I talked to a few teachers and were very positive and enthusiastic about the school. My daughter is enrolled now and is having a great time! The campus is beautiful...impressed so far!! Looking real good.

The majority of the staff genuinely care about the kids at GHS. Their expectations for students are that they will be productive and creative, caring members of society and many of the staff live and teach by that philosophy.. I've been a teacher here for 17 years and have seen the school change dramatically from being overcrowded with aging facilities and huge teacher and administration turn over rates, to now a beautiful campus with a strong administration team and teachers and students who truly care about the students, school, and each other. I feel the difference daily in my attitude and especially the students' attitudes. A true vibe of pride in ourselves, each other, and our school.

I have put a lot of effort into knowing my child's teachers and the principal, and I have been well received. Also, I have gotten a lot of support when I needed it. We have had to change classes and work with a transfer, which had some challenges.

While at this high school (I graduated in 99) there was a high teacher turnover rate, it's mindboggling to me that this is STILL the case. I am not shocked to read about former students feeling left behind, without adequate preparation for higher education institutes, etc. While there we were experimented on with an "integrated math" program where they would mix elements of algebra with trig, calc, etc. How could you ask me to do trig/calc before learning the basics of algebra?! Yet this is what happened and I was never able to recover from the confusion, I believe something outlandish like 70% of my class was FAILING math. I wonder why?! I hate that I was a guinea pig, I also hate that they only focused on my graduating high school and nothing beyond that. This is a diploma mill, a farm for mediocrity! If your child goes here, you'll have to pick up a lot of slack at home. I recommend a private high school, trust me, it's a wise investment in your future! Bad school all around except perhaps the choir program and AP classes.
