If you are a black family, do not send your children here. There is no representation in black leadership, and when there has been, they have been fired (for minute things) shortly after. I’ve heard that the teachers don’t like to teach the students and expect for the administration to come in and do their job for them. Ultimately, the care and concern is not present for the kids in the black community or else they would invest in more black educators that could relate to their experience and advocate for them!

I would like to believe the mission statement of this school was once a priority. My experience with this school has been extremely disappointing. The experience my child had was devastating and unacceptable. Unfortunately this school is unable to accommodate all needs of the students in this community and should not be open to neglect proper education to the children of the Garfield Heights community. The extremely low state test scores, the lack of sponsorship funding, loss of support from the community, extremely high turn over of staff to name a few reasons why this school should not continue to open its doors and give the minimal state requirement of education to our children.

From my experience with SMART, students get one-on-one attention and the small class sizes are great. Family/community feel to the school. The free athletic and music and arts program is also nice. Not something you'd get in a traditional public school. Free early drop-offs and late pickups are available daily, which makes it much easier on parents. Really nice staff and they seem to truly care about the students.
