Our daughter went to Raymond in the late 80's. Then as now it was a fabulous elementary school with solid parent support and participation. Friends of ours now have children at Raymond and the quality has held up. Some of them attended Raymond. Acacia is a GATE oriented school and our daughter was actually offered GATE admission but she turned it down as did most of her friends because they wanted to be together. Her group graduated from Troy in their IB program and each of them went to top notch schools [Stanford, Berkeley, Harvard, UCLA, SLO among them] and are now successful in their professions. No school is perfect but Raymond is a great neighborhood school with committed leadership andl a high degree of parent participation.

My son spent 1st through 3rd grade at Raymond. As the parent of a child with special needs, low on the overall spectrum but needing a 504 plan, I found Raymond to be a huge disappointment. I had the opportunity to engage with the principal, the special ed teacher, and each and every one of his teachers. My son had a wonderful first grade teacher...Mrs. Lee. She was everything you would hope for your child's introduction into school. First grade is a hard transition from kindergarten. Mrs Lee was an amazing teacher. But then the proverbial wheels came off the bus...I was told by his second grade teacher that "I have no idea what is wrong with your child"...which I found somewhat amusing after he was diagnosed with dyslexia - moderately to severely affected. He is also dysgraphic and had some ADD presentation. The public schools in California can not even admit that dyslexia is a real thing, let alone help with a solution. 10% of all children have some level of dyslexia. Very few get diagnosed in 2nd grade. I was extremely fortunate that I was not going to take the teacher's word for her opinion that my son was messed up in some way. She got teacher of the year that year, by the way.I ended up paying for private tutoring and all I wanted was for them to accommodate his needs as laid out by mutual agreement with the staff via 504 plan. Third grade was better but 2nd grade left a very bad taste in my mouth. The way it was handled was unprofessional and degrading. Even trying to get them to acknowledge and accept that my son HAD dyslexia was an exercise in futility with the special ed teacher tearing apart the report I had paid for page by page. I have two mothers-in-law, both educators...one in Texas where they admit dyslexia is real and have a plan, the other from Boston where she taught in the deep inner city. Both were baffled at the way Raymond handled the situationNight and day difference between Acacia and Raymond. Fullerton School District allows for inter-district transfers, but you have to re-qualify every year. If someone moves in and bumps your inter-transfer kid out, you are forced to find a new school. It is always better to reside in the area of the school you want your kid to attend rather than depend on a transfer.

This is my children's first year at Raymond and they absolutely LOVE it. The Teachers are AMAZING and the principal is a darling. the interaction the children have with other students is amazing. the past schools my kids were at weren't so nice and the children had very snotty attitudes and were mean . this school is by far the BEST school my children have attended.

love this school. I love the community interaction we have with everyone especially the principal and the teachers. the fall carnival was so cute and was the best I've ever attended. so many children from other school attend this festival and even neighbors from the community come out and support the school. kudos to the Raymond school! the children come out and help the neighbors by picking up trash and during Halloween I see a lot fo the students who attend Raymond come out to my Halloween haunted house. I love this neighborhood school.

Raymond is a wonderful school. They have a very diverse community which I feel is an important aspect in my children's education. They have a love for the arts whether it be music, studio arts, or theater. I love that it is not all about test scores and homework here. I would gladly send my child here over the other neighborhood school which I feel has lost touch with what is important in elementary education.

Raymond is the best school in the district! Both of my children attend Raymond and don't want to miss a day if school. The entire staff is amazing and truly cares about the children and the unique needs they may have whether gifted or needing a little help. For those concerned with scores look at the data it is impressive but more than that they are focused on the whole child and making learning fun which promotes life long learners!

I agree to the previous posts. An incident occured not long ago. Yelling at the children and yelling at the parent was inappropriate. I watched the girl in red with her daughter go into the bathroom. IDK she must have the need to go or else she would have not gone. The lady in reflector top was on going with yelling on the hallway. That was really not necessary. I am sure there was a good excuse why the girl went in the bathroom with little girl. This could incident could have handled better with calm voice and no screaming. Would you as a parent would like to hear adults yelling in the hallways where children witness it? I am sure I wouldn't want my child to see this arguement. It is unhealthy and not a good example to show children that yelling is ok. My child asked me what that was and I just have to say that it was probably a misunderstanding. Hope this will not occur again. This is a good school I tell yah, staff has been wonderful here and my child has been coming here for many many years and about to be in Junior High. Lets show RESPECT to our children.

My school is an amazing community of people that work hard with the staff to make our children's education all that it can be. I'm the parent of my third child going through Raymond and I have been so happy to have my children attend this school.

I am very impressed with the recent test scores at Raymond. For parents who are considering transferring out of this school based on the myth that Raymond test scores are low, please be honest and compare apples to apples. If your child is white, why not look at that sub-group? You will find that the API for white students at Raymond is 942, while the API for white students at Acacia is 940.

I am thrilled with the education my children are receiving at Raymond. The overall skill and dedication of the teachers is impressive. My children have a nice peer group and score very high on standardized tests. I believe that their experience is enriched by the diversity of the student body. It's too bad so many parents choose to transfer their children out of Raymond without taking a closer look and actually talking to parents whose children actually go to the school.
