My child is quite intelligent, has good grades and scores high on standardized tests. He also has some emotional needs, been diagnosed with PTSD and is very meek. I discussed all this with the principal before starting. Initially they seemed like they wanted to work with him but several weeks after he started, he broke down crying and couldn't get a grip. The principle seemed to be absolutely disgusted by him and treated him with absolute disdain. His matj teacher regularly used humiliation as discipline and it triggered him to break down. I went to the school and attempted to have a discussion but I couldn't finish a single sentence as I was continuously interrupted. I left that day with my child and immediately removed him and chose to homeschool. It was a hard decision as I am a single parent and homeschooling is a challenge regardless. I felt that their attitude would be detrimental to my child's progress. I didn't feel safe leaving him in their care. I don't regret it as he is doing much better now. If this is your child's school, I hope your child falls into the norm because anything outside of that is too much work for them. They didn't try to understand and certainly weren't willing to deal with a severely depressed child. If anything, they made him feel flawed and discarded.

I appreciate that the teachers and administrators are willing to listen when I have something come up and let me know when my child isn't doing what she is supposed to or a brag when she is. We have a very involved community that helps to meet the needs of our students. Do I wish we could offer more? Absolutely but I definitely feel as though my daughter is receiving an excellent education in a safe and positive environment. Go Bombers!

I moved back after growing up here and going to college. The school is like any other small community. It struggles with budget cuts, but I believe the school is trying it's best to fund where they can and where priorities should be. The town passed a vote "yes" to a bond to remodel the elementary, which shows the town takes pride in their children. They are the future of the town. I think the importance should not be relied on primarily on the school, but also the parents. The school offers tutoring after school as well as through the churches. The Head Start offers extend-a-day, which is free to working families that allows them to work until 5:30 P.M. Yes, the town does focus on sports, but a healthy kid is also an importance in a child's life. The high school and jr. high have a wonderful band teacher and music teacher that have been in the community for years. They go above and beyond as far as volunteer time goes with the youth. They have the youth do performances at local events throughout the community. Each kid has a nemo (computer) in the classroom that allows the children to challenge them on advancing their reading and math skills. They can work on higher grade levels.

The school provides a computer for each student that is kept in the classroom. The student is able to take test and play learning games on computer. The computer also allows the student to advance on the grade levels depending upon the child's education. The school teaches Johnny Phonics, which teaches the sound recognition of certain letters make. It could be hard at first to learn, but in the long run it is well worth the challenge. My son was having a hard time at first understanding it in Kindergarten. Now being in second grade he is reading at a fourth grade level.
