The food is bad, I would get threatened by classmates often, people bring knifes and weapons to school. The teachers don't help much with these problems, lots of bullying and harassment. One time someone brought a knife to a lunch room and tried to stab a classmate, lots of physical violence and fights, as well as threats between people and other things. Not only that but their milk tends to be curtoled and taste horrible, so be careful of the milk. Their pizza tastes like cardboard, and their food just doesn't taste or look the best in general.

I have three children, one is graduating from TJ this month, another next year, and my youngest will be a freshman next year. I can’t say enough good things about our experience with TJ. I was very nervous given some of the low ratings but I have been so impressed by the staff and administration. I have one child who requires more academic rigor and another who needs additional support services (IEP) and both have had their academic needs met and then some.

This school is amazing. The staff really care about the students success. I went on to get a PhD in aerospace engineering and within my peer group we had numerous JD’s, PhD’s and MD. This school set students up for success.

Our family is beyond pleased with GTJHS. Coming from another school in the district that does not celebrate diversity and does not recognize students as maturing young adults, this school is like a breath of fresh air! I'm dismayed to see that it has a relatively low rating on Great Schools. I don't feel like this school gets enough credit for all of the exceptional teachers and administrators who make it a place to learn and thrive. Look past the aging school facility to see the real magic happening here.

My son graduated from Thomas Johnson HS and did very well. The teachers at this high school are wonderful and the coursework is rigorous. He has received the highest scholarship available to incoming freshmen because his grades were top notch! He had both honors and AP courses at TJHS. Our graduating class of 2016 received $4 million in scholarships! I have two more children coming through the high school and we're proud parents of our school.

To be honest the school is terrible. To start I will go with the food. My friend got a of chips and it was nasty, the chips were soggy and the cheese was crusty. Second. We have a 45 minute block which is a study hall. We are not only prohibited to leave the class room, but not even allowed to use the restroom in dire need. Half of the restrooms are locked and the ones open are filthy from over use. The administration itself is crumbling. They are beginning a new system called "centralized printing". It basically removes all printers for approximately 3 printers, so the administration can "monitor" paper usage. There are currently about 20 including personal printers. The teachers are also going to be charged money for the paper used and extra for colored and cardstock. The whole entire school is falling apart and is only cleaned when inspection comes around. The other day a ceiling tile fell off and hit a peer. I will not even start on the education itself because I believe this common core is silly. Not to mention the teachers who purposefully disrespect and mistreat student. "You're lucky you're pretty." should not be a comment made by any person, especially a staff member.
