A pretty good school over all, even though I had a bad experience with 2 teachers.

Very pleased! We've had great teachers, the pta is very active, and it is a very happy and positive school!

Fairview is a poor excuse for a school. They provide minimal support to the students and the principle is more concerned with her rank and status than with doing what is in the best interest of "her" students...our children. This is a school for minority and those of lower socioeconomic status....therefore, it has little to no funding for technology or advanced teaching tools. The children get minimal time to socialize, eat and play. They walk through the halls like inmates in the county jail. They are forbidden from speaking in the halls, lunchrooms, and classrooms unless they are given permission. This creates a setting that is intimidating and gives a false impression of what the real world is like. Social skills are the least of their worries. Half of these students cannot even speak English. These children are at a particular disadvantage as the school has no means of teaching them. They sit in the class and watch the other children interact and learn...if you can call it that. They hire young teachers with no experience and no patience. This causes problems for us working parents as we are constantly having to come to the school to "manage" issues that the teacher can't.

Fairview is a poor school with administrators that are spiteful and vindictive. If your child has any type of bx problem, they push you to "medicate them". If you refuse, be prepared to be getting calls daily. The teachers are children themselves and the older ones are miserable. The principle and vice principle like to "politician" the parents. Assure them that things will be handled, we'll work on your child's behalf, keep you posted. NOTHING! I removed my child from this school due to the ignorance and absolute ridiculousness of the administrators. I don't regret it for a minute and I would caution ALL parents about this school and encourage them to avoid enrolling their children if they can at all avoid it. If they must, be an advocate for your child. Do not let them push you into believing that your child has something wrong with them. You know your child. I had not problems with my child at home but the school had problems daily. Mrs. Walter and Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Tipton are absolute lunatics and have not business running anything except our of that school. It could be better managed by the incoming kindergarteners. I'm so glad my son is in another school now! So happy!

I have seen nothing about this school that warrants any kind of merit. The teachers have a 'buddy system' in which they cover eachother's backsides no matter right or wrong, they bully the children more than any student, they only care about their test scores and not at all about the children themselves. If a child is not on ritalin, subdued, drugged or a perfect little sheep, they are noted as a problem child. Creativity and questioning authority is not welcome at this facility. The teachers expect perfect respect, but do nothing to earn it. They complain about not making enough money for the little that they actually do. The worst part is... my child was merely in kindergarten. they like to wait until they are completely exacerbated about anything before attempting to contact a parent and then treat them as if they parents are the ones causing all of the problems. Welcome to Fort Smith.
