This is my daughter’s second year here at Mount Olive Primary School. She is not where she needs to be so I’ve consistently asked them to place her in additional programs so that she is able to catch up to her grade level. In return, they have dragged this out with little to no communication while leaving my daughter to fail. I wish we could send her somewhere else but as military our options are extremely limited in this area. Bullying is another huge issue. There have been several instances that were brushed off and never accounted for by the staff and transportation office. The school would much rather take pictures of the staff eating catered meals than do their dang job and give children the education they need.

I have had a good experience with this school. I believe being with the school for a few years helps and also being able come in and help out or check on them and have lunch is a plus too.

Excellent! Teachers and office staff friendly, helpful and they listen to your concerns. The students are happy and eager to learn, because the teachers are engaged and innovative.

My son attended kindergarten at Mount Olive primary. He had a rough year. The first month of August I had already had a meeting with the teacher and staff they wanted to test him for speech but had wanted to get a doctor test him for Autism and ADHD. Needless to say he wasn't any of that, but did receive speech services there and from other speech resources in town. He would come home everyday with red stars due to him hitting or other kids hitting. I know a lot of his struggle was that he could not express himself with coherent sentences . He knew what was right from wrong but to express his feelings he just can't really express it. All yeAr he sat alone from the kids, it broke my heart. I am glad the teacher was able to work with him on a daily basis, I would go in the class and sit just to observe him. To all the parents out there reading this. If you plan on bringing your kids to this school keep in mind that teachers and staff are willing to work with your child but it lacks funding. It needs more support and involvement from the state. This school is pretty much all military because it's right outside fort benning Georgia so you have a lot of transitional kids coming and going, so I'm going to give it a three star.

Mount Olive has the potential to be a great school, with many parents willing to volunteer their time and support the school, and several quality educators. However, my experience there was awful no matter what I did to try and help out, or who I reached out to for help. My son is a special needs child with an IEP and he would go days, sometimes a week or more, without being provided services (which is illegal). Everyone all the way up to the superintendent of the school board was no help whatsoever. It was impossible for my son to get the services he was legally entitled to receive, or a quality education. Many reports of things improving there circulate, however, I have yet to hear even one parents of a special needs child with anything positive to say. I will also mention that for the year that my son attended there, he was sick with a virus/strep throat/stomach bug at least 20 times or more within that school year. Very strange to me, especially since once we left that school we did not deal with the constant illnesses anymore. Overall, I would avoid Mount Olive and the Russell County School District as a whole.

My daughter attends kindergarten at MOPS. In the beginning of the year she was not adjusting well to the transition of being in school all day and really having to pay attention and learn important things. She was bringing home reds everyday and it got very frustrating. Well, we are now 6 mos. In and she is doing remarkably better than at the beginning. She is in Ms. Sears class and she is so patient yet stern with the children and has made the difference for my baby. She knows all of her Fry words and is even beginning to read now!!! Everywhere we go,she sounds out the letters to all kinds of words and its truly amazing to watch. Also, this year Mrs. Baker has implemented a tutoring program not only for the children with low scores that need extra help in reading and math but also for children that are pretty close to the top, that have a need for a little extra....so the turoring is truly for all levels. This school has really been amazing!

Phenomenal teachers and curriculum! Plenty of opportunities for parent involvement, special activities, parent nights, book fairs, and field trips. Communication is wonderful - weekly schedules from the teachers, daily behavior reports, and conference time. The hallways are always decorated with student achievements. A positive place to have your kids. Kindergarten has snack and recess each day, and my child is now reading well above grade level. The school raised enough funds to build a new playground this past year, which all of the students enjoy each and every day. They have library, computer time, PE. All rooms have computers with smart boards and an iPad. All of the educators are considered "highly qualified" which means they exceed state expectations for education and training. They are top notch! Parents are always encouraged to be involved and conferences are always available by appointment. I cannot say enough good things about this school. Everything has improved 110% since the new principal took over. We are military, and will be very sad to leave this school if we ever move.

My daughter and I have had nothing but a great experience at Mount Olive. Since the new principle and staff took over, there has been a lot more communication and parent involvement than in past years. The Principal takes the time to get to know the parents and students. All the teachers are phenomenal. This school used to have a bad reputation, but since the new administration took over, they have worked hard at improving the environment, the education and morale of the teachers, students and parents.

This school has met and exceeded all of my expectations. My daughter is in kindergarten and she is reading books with very little help. She loves going to school. The school is in the process of building a new, bigger playground. They have lots of activities and they always encourage parent involvement. This year they've had a fall festival, jeopardy night, family fitness night, math night, a field trip to the coca cola science center to name a few. The teachers are wonderful and I have never seen a principal more involved than the one at Mount Olive Primary. Any issues or concerns that I've had were resolved in a timely manner.
