We love the culture at Irish! It is a very close knit community. We have been raising our two children, currently in 1st and 3rd grade, bilingual in Spanish and English since they were born, and feel that Irish really supports and reflects both facets of identities. The teachers are amazing and go above and beyond to meet the unique needs of each student and to get to know families. The school population is very diverse and we've had the opportunity to get to know parents, teachers, and staff from many different countries, which makes for a very rich experience. We also love participating in the unique cultural events and after school enrichment programs (PSD After 3) that Irish offers. In addition to providing such an important multicultural education, Irish also excels at social-emotional support and supporting children with unique learning needs. One of our kiddos was recently diagnosed with both learning disabilities and gifted abilities, and we have been so impressed by how the teachers, counselors, interventionists, and school leadership have supported our family on this journey as we figure out the best support and accommodations to meet their needs and ensure they thrive. Irish Elementary Escuela Bilingüe has really gone above and beyond all of our expectations, and we are so grateful to be a part of the Irish community. It is truly a special place!

I hand picked Irish for my kids, we choiced in and it’s the best single academic decision I have ever made. I picked it for the truly bilingual experience and now I have a 4th grader and a 2nd grader who have the Spanish vocabulary and language skills to bicker and argue with each other in Spanish. They also have very strong literacy skills in both English and Spanish and are aware of inequities in our community because they’re awareness that not all people speak English. That inherent awareness of others experiences isn’t something most kids have, and most adults don’t understand unless they’ve traveled outside the US. I was also extremely pleased to witness my 4th graders dyslexia is not only isolated to English but that it is also strongly supported by the Spanish he is exposed to daily that there isn’t a gap in skills or achievement. It’s incredible to watch him code-switch and then translate and rework things that are challenging. I know that when I take my kids to school, they are valued members of their classrooms and known by name by most (if not all) teachers and staff at Irish. They are encouraged and supported and respected at school, and I am so proud to be a part of the Irish Escuela community.

We have been attending Irish for the last 5 years, and overall we have been incredibly pleased. The teachers clearly care for our children and the support systems that are provided to the students will continue to grow the mental health skills. The most amazing part of this school is the bilingual education that every student gets. We are blown away with the growth of our children’s Spanish, even with a few interrupted years. The fact that they should finish fifth grade being able to read, write and speak Spanish and English is an incredible gift.

The language immersion is fantastic. My two kids are fluent in Spanish thanks to Irish.

My daughter has blossomed into a well-rounded bilingual learner at Irish. She is comfortable speaking, reading, and writing in both English & Spanish, has strong friendships with her classmates, receives tailored support from her teachers. We’ve had good communication with both teachers and administrators over our 3 years at the school. Irish has a wonderful community and wide range of extracurricular programs. I recommend this school to anyone who seeks a bilingual, multicultural, supportive environment for their students.

I have three kids who attend Irish Elemetary Esceula Bilingue and so far I have been very pleased with their experience. My oldest child has grow in his reading due to the individualized group instruction he receives. My youngest son is starting to receive the same small group instruction to improve his reading skills. They do a great job of including families in the educational process and creating a welcoming and safe environment for all. Irish has integrated Social/Emotional Learning for all students, and I have seen elements of Restorative Practices used to help students take accountability for their actions and repair any harm done, with an emphasis on learning from their mistakes. I love the bicultural environment and feel that my kids benefit from this rich community that they have created.

Within 60 days of starting here they have lost my daughter 3 time time called telling me my daughter is missing and has dropped my daughter at different bus stops and have been negligent to my daughter's safety they proceeded to ignore the problem at hand 0/10 worst school ever

My son got a staple stuck in his finger. Rather than allowing the nurse to remove it they say my son outside the principles office and had him wait over a half an hour with this object in his thumb. So a parent could leave work and remove it.

There is not strong behavior consequences for students with behavior problems. There is not a curriculum in place. Teachers pull worksheets from different sources. They offer a great bilingual program, unfortunately not a great leadership or follow up. I am disappointed of the school's performance. We decided to place our child in a better environment with a better learning. But, our main concern is the safety of our child. The disrespectful from students towards their peers is severe with no consequences afterall. My child has tell us countless times students throwing chairs inside their classrooms to theirs classmates. There has been this year several times that emergency, ambulance or 911 has been called, and the school year is not even over. We, definitely will not be coming back next year. This is just our experience. I hope you have a better one.

I've had nothing but problems with the school for two years I've had enough it seems like the people who work there are not very nice and definitely when they talk to you they seem to be off-putting as a little rude I'm not very appreciated about the school

We are so impressed with the individualized attention the teachers, counselor, and principal have given our daughter. When we moved our special needs daughter to Irish, the staff pulled a meeting together with us to set up just the right program for her. That was 3 years ago, and they continue to give this kind of attention to all the kids.

I can't regard the teacher/staff community highly enough. They give so much energy, creative thoughts and LOVE to the kids, while providing structure and safety all at the same time. It is different from an IB program where many of the parents are university related and kids are smart from the beginning. Different type of devotedness, connectedness, friendliness, welcoming and non-judgemental atmosphere exists. The teachers have done wonderful jobs getting grants to provide services their children (i.e. eye exams, teeth checkups, providing coats for those in need, all for free) and do an amazing job with what they do. Their dual-language program is something not to be missed. What a wonderful resource in building their language skills for Spanish. Many teachers are truly bilingual too, and just by being in the building, you get cross-cultural experience, it's pretty cool. You would want to understand and support the school and staff though, not demand and take all you can get from them just for your child. If you are expecting full attention for "your" child, special treatment, then this is probably not the place for you. I am proud to be part of this school:)

Irish Elementary is a fantastic school with fantastic teachers and staff who truly care about their students and community who are doing an amazing job educating a population facing hard economic times with budget cuts looming at every corner. They have earned my respect, trust, and thanks for what they have provided my children, and what I see them do every day.
