I would highly recommend this school. It is the cleanest and safest school in the county. They excel at all sports and teachers are caring and supportive of you. The entire goal is to prepare you for college and the class selection allows for you to do that. As long as you are respecting the building and your classmates then you will receive the full high school experience.

Love the school but the the kids mostly girls need to get OVER THEMSELVES ALREADY. Like parents must be so proud of the nastiness that comes from these souls. With that being said teach your daughter how to be a MEAN GIRL JUST so SHE CAN DEAL WITH THEM. Otherwise staff is awesome.

I went to 1 semester and already want to leave. The teachers are horrible, I don’t enjoy learning there. Most of them only have us take notes and don’t really teach much. Would not recommend.

Excellent school that allows all students the opportunity to thrive and achieve their full potential academically and athletically.

I graduated from Powers Catholic in 2019 and I can honestly say that it was a traumatic experience for me. Not only did it not prepare me for college in any way, but it also turned me away from religion entirely. For parents looking to send their children to an environment that embodies Christ's example, Powers Catholic is not the place. Racism, homophobia, sexism, and classism are common in the student body and are not dealt with. Bullying is not dealt with efficiently and mental health support there is a joke. Just some examples, a student said he wished there was a Holocaust for gay people in front of the assistant principal and nothing was done about it. Said student served as an altar server for the school. Regardless of your views on homosexuality, race, and other religions, Jesus would clearly not tolerate hate such as this. Sexual harassment/nudes/etc are also an extreme issue within the student body, and victims do not feel comfortable coming forward as victim blaming is rampant. A friend of mine came forward about someone repetitively harassing her and asking her for nudes and she was blamed for it. My freshman year alone-I was 14-I had at least 7 different male students either ask for nudes or send unsolicited. While this is an issue at any high school, the school's response of "just don't send nudes" and abstinence is a joke. If you're a current future student there, do not bother going to guidance counselors for mental health help. I do recommend going to Father Jim though, he's a wonderful man who genuinely cares about the students and their overall wellbeing. Powers does have some great teachers, however, they are overshadowed by the school's main focus of money. As an overachieving student who took both dual enrollment classes and as many AP classes as I could, I still did not feel remotely prepared for college. It is common that material is spoonfed to students in order to raise overall grades regardless of mastery of material. I would have received a far more challenging education from my local public high school. The one good thing I can say about Powers is the requirement of public service. I really felt I gained a lot through completing this. Overall, I cannot in good faith recommend this school to anyone. According to current Powers students, the school has gone downhill since I graduated and it would not surprise me if it continues to do so. You are better off sending your child to public school.

Education is phenomenal, snobby girls are in a class of their own and give the movie mean girls a run for it's money

We absolutely love Powers Catholic school. We live in the neighborhood near the school and are so happy with the rigorous academic program and athletics available to our children. We are not wealthy or privileged and are just down-to-earth people who want our children's education to be faith-based. The ability to take advanced courses and earn college credit has also been a wonderful thing. We don't know a lot of people or have connections and our students have still had great success. Thank you to all of the teachers and as a parent I highly recommend!

School success is based more on nepotism, family financial standing in the community and ability to donate to the school. Many "wannabe's", status seekers and socialites send their kids here so that they can have a chance at being a part of the "in-crowd". As for education, I was not impressed. Arts and music program...you had better be personal friends with the Director or you'll never get a main part. Many of the teachers teach several different subjects and do not have advanced degrees. The kids that attend the school are from families that value education, and in large measure have received good elementary and junior high educations. Powers will claim credit for the success some of their kids achieve but in reality, the kids that attend already have solid educational footings. The best description of the attitude of the parents and students that attend Powers is arrogance and privileged. I would not recommend Powers to anyone. Is it a Catholic School? In a superficial way it promotes and mouths Catholicism. The bullying, nepotism and low academic standards are not what I want for my children. Check out the Advanced Placement Courses and compare the results with a few other local schools. Powers AP classes are 1 semester long whereas other schools spend a year on the same class...no comparison in the results either. Note: I work with students from Powers and other area schools and have had my own children attend and graduate from Powers and other schools.

Our son attended public schools until entering Powers as a Freshman. The new campus is beautiful. The teachers seem to truly care about your student as a whole person academically and otherwise. The academic program opportunities and advanced classes offered are excellent. As a freshman in his public school, there was only one advanced placement class offered. At Powers the academic ability is taken into consideration and the classes offered meet the students abilities/needs. Our son loves his school and looks forward to being there every day. The students are polite and show respect to each other and to adults. We are happy at Powers and feel a definite family and community connection there. I highly reccomend Powers Catholic.

I believe that Powers is the best school in our area. My sister Logan attended the school for high school and has gotten her opportunities that she would've never had. Logan is now in the honors program and Ferris State University and fully believes Powers has gotten her where she is today. I am now in my freshman year at Powers and thought that I would completely hate it, but it turns out I was so wrong. I can finally say, for the first time in 4 years, that I love going to school again.

Cruel environment. None athletic students are pariahs. Students were made to feel ashamed or inferior if "nerdy". Bulling a very serious problem. Teachers were mostly coaches who treat no sports students as misfits. Counselors never gave good college or course advice. It was as though I had been written off. Teach catholic values but what is practiced will eventually cause students to leave the faith in later years.

Sports are important only if Daddy pays more than your tuition. The teams are not good because the spots are held for special kids. s The other's aren't even told about tryouts, etc. It's "pull kids that are athletes from outlying schools" and let them sit the bench while the super star money people get their training and spot on the team. Huge crowd from our area Fenton, not very nice young people. They are talking about each other most of the time. Sad for a "Catholic Based" school. Our grades have been calculated wrong several times and we have had to fight for grades. You don't want to do that in High School

Love the school. All students seem to get along. Atheletics are some of the best in the state. Teachers interact well with students. It's like one big family. Best school in the area.

Powers Catholic is the best school in Genesee county. My daughter is now in her senior year. When my family suffered a family emergency I knew that my daughter would be looked after and knew that this school is family. Everyone from the staff to the student support her. My daughter is thriving and is growing up to be a remarkable young women. I know that she is prepared for college and is very proud to be at Powers.

My spouse and I are both products of public education and we live in a great school district. That being said, I have been very impressed with the quality of education my child has been receiving. My student is challenged everyday both academically and spiritually. I particularly LOVE that the student body is both socially and ethnically diverse. While no school is perfect, I have met very few students both past and present, who did not enjoy their time at Powers. With their new campus schedule to open in the fall of 2013, I honestly could not see why anyone would not take a hard look at sending their children there.

I have a child at this school and have already had one graduate. According to the one that graduated, they prepare you for life. But, we have noticed favoritism fort the students with important local celebs and if your child doesn't fit that category, you may be surprised to find that the limited-numbered things, sports or extra curricular, they may get left out and it;s obvious and hurtful. With all of that said, my current student wants to remain there. So, maybe decide if your local school is beneficial for a specific student and if not, try it. Just the christian part that makes me sad. No one should be judged at a Catholic school and no one should have power because of what your family does or is. Especially in the Flint area. hahaha

While I am a graduate of this school I recently had a child that attended Powers for four years. I am very disappointed in the quality of the educators, the curriculum and the general school environment. First, the educators do not show the level of professionalism one would expect in any school. The blatant nepotism and favoritism shown to those families of influence is astounding and not expected in a school that should be promoting Christian values, excellence and achievement! While the school does tout the fact that they have many young scholars that secure noteworthy college scholarships, I do not believe that the high school has much influence in this regard. I have since sent my other children to our public high school and have been very impressed. Bottom line...save the tuition for college.
