Fernleaf has been the most diverse school community with the most welcoming arms. We love the student and teacher body communities in the school. It is a wonderful thing to hear your kid some excited to go to school each day! Our child's interest for learning and care for others has only grown with her time at fernleaf.

We keep returning to Fernleaf every single year (from Kindergarten to now 5th Grade) for all of the same reasons! We love the people, the curriculum, the location (of course...swooooon) and just the school overall! The fact that my son gets to stay in the same school for his entire education is AMAZING and frankly the best thing we could have ever asked for for him. I found myself muttering "absolutely" to myself while clicking "agree" for every section I had to rate here. I could not recommend Fernleaf enough. I'm always gushing about it to anyone who asks. We wouldn't want to be anywhere else!

Fernleaf seems to truly understand child development and create a learning experience based around that. They meet kids “at their age” but also create space for staff to meet each individual kid where they are at, including all their beautiful, unique traits. Most kids don’t learn in the way traditional public schools have to teach, and we not only appreciate that, but see both our kids blossoming in that environment. All the outdoor time, fieldwork, community focused values, mindfulness practice, empowering each child; so many things we see and love. We want our kids to enjoy learning and know that learning doesn’t just take place in a classroom; Fernleaf accomplishes this beautifully! We love seeing our active boys actually WANT to go to school.

We love the teachers, the students and the parents. We love that our child doesn't get lost in the mix, and that there is always an interesting learning opportunity around the corner!

FernLeaf Community Charter School is truly one-of-a-kind! It has been an amazing school experience for my two young kids, and I can’t say enough good things about it. Not only does FernLeaf provide a strong foundation in the standard academic curriculum, but they also go above and beyond by offering a gentle and patient environment where children can thrive. What sets FernLeaf apart is its commitment to balancing academic learning with essential life skills, outdoor play, and meaningful community involvement. From hands-on learning opportunities to incredible community volunteering events, this school nurtures well-rounded, confident, and compassionate kids.FernLeaf feels like more than just a school—it’s a vibrant and supportive community that prioritizes the growth and happiness of every child. I am so grateful my family is part of this incredible school!

Fern Leaf has been a true blessing for our austic child. The staff are so helpful and all the support he receives in learning and being creative, has truly allowed him to grow so much since he began. It has changed him and provided him with a positive outlook and desire to go to school every day.

FernLeaf has been an amazing place for my kids over the past 9 years. All 4 of my kids, all of whom are quite different in their learning styles, are thriving. The overnights are always a highlight of my kids' school year and they come back refreshed, very connected to the school, their teachers and their peers. The emphasis on outdoor education is important to me as a parent and I feel, as young adults, they really understand the importance of caring for our environment. It's a lovely school that has helped me raise my kids into thoughtful and curious humans.

Kids are doing well at this school. School offers a lot of neat activities and opportunities for students. Several great field trips and overnights. A lot of afterschool programs to choose from would like to see more for k-4 especially outdoor education/outdoor programs. There is no parent/teacher association or even meetings so there is a disconnect there. The head Director will not interact with you, he will not try to meet or greet you or your family unless you are part of his inner circle “club” Teachers are great however again there’s a disconnect with no parent association.

We have multiple kids at FernLeaf and have been there for years. We have had a very positive experience. Our kids are all different, two are advanced learners and one has a learning disability and they are all well cared for and accommodated by the teachers at FernLeaf. We love the outdoor emphasis, the multiple field trips every year, the awesome amount of after school activities, and the optional travel opportunities. And EVERY teacher we have had at FernLeaf is incredible!

My kids absolutely LOVE going to FernLeaf! Their teachers are the best they've ever had and are so kind and thoughtful. They love that they get to go on 10 field trips every year including fun overnight trips. They love that they can go on international trips. They love that they get to do bowling, disc golf, mountain biking, rock climbing, and canoeing. FernLeaf even has a food truck! Both of my kids are SO excited to go to the new Wilderness Campus next year too. It's on top of a mountain!I love FernLeaf for all of the same reasons as my kids but mostly because they love school and learning, are thriving academically, and have so many cool experiences that they didn't get at their old schools. It makes me sad to see what another reviewer said about the school directors. I personally have found the school administration to be every bit as kind and thoughtful as the teachers and I have absolutely been able to be involved in the school community a ton and their doors are always open. And whatever they're doing is clearly working from my perspective because I can't imagine my kids going anywhere else!

The director of the school is completely against ANY parent involvement. There is a reason he won’t allow a PTO or any parent organization to form. He wants to hear nothing negative about his school and ignores all concerns. If you agree with all of his decisions then maybe you’ll be ok. The moment you have an issue though be ready to feel frustrated and not have any real solution. The lack of challenging work is a whole other discussion. K-2 is probably fine…but once you get to 3rd and above be ready for your child to be far behind where they should be.
