After very bad experiences with another middle school outside of Fairfield, Tomlinson school was like heaven for us. My son entered the 8th grade and we were apprehensive about his reception and adaptation, but the staff and most of the students were very receptive and welcoming. We had an excellent conversation, introduction and guidance from the Guidance Counselor, we felt welcomed and included in the community. We finally felt safe sending our son to school and that is priceless! He made great friends too. As for school contents, subjects, teachers and staff, I think they did their job very well. TMS has good extra activities, groups, projects, with great development and academic support. The musical part of the school is extremely competent, both orchestra and choir and especially the band. They rock ! Well, I only have praise for this school, which is not perfect as all are not, but in our case it was perfect for our son, both academically, physically and mentally. It was a pleasure having our son attend this school.

My two daughters are currently attending Tomlinson and both are enjoying their experiences. Academics and emotional/social coping skills are being learned and used daily. For one daughter the learning and organizational responsibility comes easy while the other needs some guidance. The administration at Tomlinson has provided assistance and skills to her that she is effectively utilizing and her self esteem is building. We have found the staff to be approachable, knowledgable and supportive and they are always available to the students and the parents. There is a zero tolerance for bullying and the young adults are expected to behave as such. To that parent stating some teachers are hit or miss - there are those are in every school from elementary to college - private and public. So far, my daughters teachers have been professional, helpful, and child advocates. We are pleased with the school from administration to the facility itself.
