Booth school is an important pillar of this small community. While it is tiny, it is mighty. Teachers and staff here care about students deeply and it shows. Their small class sizes allow them to give more individualized attention that students wouldn't be able to get in a larger school. One thing I have found especially impressive is that they promote community engagement by having students create decorations and gifts for the Enfield Nursing Home. That just makes this a more special place for all. I have been meaning to leave a review for awhile now as a former graduate and member of the community--I can't recommend Enfield Booth School enough.

Booth is a school where the parents are expected to work with children outside of the school- you know AT home, teaching and helping YOUR own children- as much as it is a school that will teach your children. If you expect your child to be the smartest cookie in the box you're going to have to help with that. I like this fact.I have seen a good number of kids that were passed forward and shouldn't have been, but that is the fault of 'no child left behind'. You can not reasonably expect kids that are following along to wait for one or two children to catch up- it's how you end up with a whole class of potatoes. The proper use of grammar IS an issue- however, one must bare in mind that it is southern Illinois and this area has it's own english dialect. It's not reasonable to expect children to go to school and learn the difference between them, those and they and then return every night to home where only the word 'them' is used as a substitute for all 3 and to come out of growing up knowing the difference. A good example of this is to read the other reviews where the grammar is complained about, I strongly doubt those are typos. I'm also highly in favor of children dressing modestly and a zero tolerance approach to that. Children shouldn't be dressing in short shorts or using leggings as pants.Over all we've had a really good experience with this school.

Not a very promising school. Yes, The classroom sizes are very small, but the children here are hardly learning anything, due the low quality of the teachers. The food is awful, for instance my daughter complained of finding hair in her food. They also make the girls wear shorts that are down to there knees, but they cant even make the cooks wear a hairnet?!? If the girls' shorts aren't finger tip length, it is an automatic detention. On top of all of this, most of the teachers aren't the smartest at the subject they're teaching. I believe an English teacher should be able to even use correct grammar! The principal, is not the smartest tack in The box either. He doesn't enforce any rules, he just laughs them off and does on. Furthermore, the school doesn't even have their own sports. So if you son plays basketball, he is joined with Norris city and then the parents have the responsibility of taking them from Enfield to Norris city and back for practices and games. All of this is just the start of faults. To conclude, my advice to you is don't enroll your child in this school. Youu will regret it, you and child both, for it is the worst education system my child's been through!!!
