We absolutely love this school! The principal is truly exceptional, leading with kindness, dedication, and a genuine passion for the students' success. She’s unmatched. The teachers are amazing. They care so deeply about every child and go above and beyond to make sure each student feels supported and encouraged to reach their full potential. The sense of community here is incredible, and we’re so grateful to be part of a school that prioritizes both academic and personal growth. Highly recommend!

We lucked out getting our girls into this incredible school. Our first daughter has THRIVED here academically. Socially they have helped so much as well. 10/10 . My only wish was that after school enrichment was free, but that’s a pipe dream. No one has that.

Academy for Enriched Sciences is the gem of the valley! Being a magnet school, AES is a school with diversity, and celebrating different cultures is a priority here. This school is smaller than most public schools, so it is easy for students to know each other and look out for each other. The administration and staff are really welcoming. AES has 2 LAUSD Teachers of the Year recipients on staff, but the teachers are ALL exceptional. At every grade level, you will be happy with whichever class your kid is placed in because they are all so talented, committed, and caring. Sharing suggestions or concerns are encouraged and quickly responded to. There is an active PTA who are open to hearing new ideas and adding positions if you want to be involved. This small-school environment encourages older students to take on leadership roles as they support and model appropriate behavior for younger students. Younger students are able to feel included at all levels of activity but still have their own lunch hour (k-2 together and 3-5 together for lunch). Including our special-needs students is a priority here because AES fosters an inclusive environment where all students and parents are welcomed, included and celebrated. There are many extracurricular classes available after school and some clubs on campus too. AES is a great school with a great community and everyone who attends it feels lucky to be here. This school is STEM-certified so your kid will love it if he or she is into science, hands-on learning, or thinking outside of the box. AES could be the school for you if your kid is looking for a smaller and more diverse school that is high performing academically, supports creative thinking and scientific exploration, and feels like a tight-knit community.

Solid school. Smaller than most and it does give it a private-ish feel. The after school enrichment programs including cooking, violen, painting, chess, debate, flag football, hip hop dance, basketball, robot building, coding and Jedi Training. Creative kids offers care until 6pm.

We love this school because it's half the size of other LAUSD K-5s. Students' success speaks to the quality of teachers it attracts, a truly lovely staff and an involved parent network. They also took one bullying incident very seriously, and have been wonderful with emotional support of kids through discipline issues. Lots of extracurriculars and fun events outside of school too (outdoor movies, theme celebrations), but not so many that families get burned out. A parent fundraising campaign only once/year.

Our older son started in first grade for the 2019-2020 school year. Despite challenges, staff always had an open door policy, teachers were amazing and my kids have always had lots of hands on projects. He is now in 3rd grade and we have a kindergartener, we have spent most of our experience in the pandemic. The previous principal left and the past year or so there have been a couple of interim principals. I would have to say that they have done their very best despite the challenges in front of them. AES has a great PTA that have been amazing stewards during and before the pandemic. They do fundraise quite a bit and always more than happy to donate since we see where its going and the quality of the school and its programs. Additionally, my older son has ADHD and everyone has been so compassionate and patient as we navigate the diagnosis and treatment plans.

I don't recommend this school because staff is disorganized. They send you in circles, since they don't know or don't want to take responsibility...they tell you to call other LAUSD offices when the school office is the one that should be resolving the issue. Staff doesn't coordinate well with LAUSD transportation or with beyond the bell, everyone seems confused about everything yet they don't want to take responsibility. I spend hours a day trying to figure out who to call or who to talk to. It shouldn't be this hard. If the principal doesn't know that there are afternoon buses then we have a problem. I don't recommend it for special needs students, my son is not getting any of the support that he desperately needs. We showed up 2 minutes late on picture day and they made my kindergarten son sit in a room as punishment for being late. Come on. It's picture day. I had to complain & go to the office to get him out to join the rest of the class and take his picture. Too stressful for us. The school is in a good neighborhood, not lots of traffic and there is ample space for drop off. There are a few good staff members. Unfortunate that the school is not organized as a whole.

AES has caring teachers, staff, and a heartfelt principle. The school is small, friendly, and fun with an emphasis on not just academics but character and thinking globally. Stoked to have 2 kids attending. Only downside is it stops at 5th grade.

We are so happy with this school. My daughter just finished 2nd grade with Ms. Simons. She is the best teacher ever!! Ms Simons followed up with my daughter, went above and beyond to support her and help her to improve her academics. Great school.

My son is in kindergarten and I couldn't be happier with this school. He is thriving here academically, socially and emotionally. It's a public school with a private school feeling of support and community.

This school is a real gem. High academy standards, strong parent involvement and a wonderful principal and staff. My daughter is very happy here and we're so luck to have gotten her in. I was a bit nervous about it leaning to heavily on the sciences but there is a good balance of the arts too. Oh and lovely new campus in Encino!!!!

The school has high expectations for all students. It is diverse, the teachers are amazing, and there is strong leadership guiding the school. It's focus is on Global Awareness and the sciences. We feel blessed that our son attends this school.
