I really don’t want my children to come to school here anymore. I rather go back to Virginia Beach school

If you're lucky to have an average student, this is the place for you. If you have an exceptional or a student with any emotional or psychological issues, STAY AWAY FROM THIS SCHOOL. You will never hear from the teachers or staff, you will get notes maybe on a weekly basis saying how your child is doing, so if there is a problem, you will not hear of it until a week has gone by, then they expect you to take care of an issue that's already extinct. They will say they will do a list of things to work with you for your child and then do none of it. You cannot contact them, all you get is an answering machine. They ignore bullying to a disgusting degree. I do not see how this school rates even the horrible 6 that they do, I am moving out of state just to get away from this school, they messed up my oldest, I will not let them ruin my youngest...

Central Elementary is FANTASTIC! We were nervous moving to Elizabeth City as a Coast Guard family and hearing bad reviews of the schools in city limits. We came from a great school so we had high standards of what we expect from a school. Mrs. Greene has exceeded every single one of those expectations! She is great not only with the kids but also keeping open communication with the parents. She holds her kids to a high standard and expects them do to their best at all times! Mr. Drew (the principal) is awesome! He is not the type of principal that sits behind his desk all day. He is outside every day (rain or shine) helping kids get in and out of their cars in the pick up/drop off line. He knows all the kids by name and is very friendly. He isn't too busy to help out whether that's with a pep rally or delivering items to a classroom that a child forgot at home. If you are looking for an elementary school that will not only teach your children above and beyond "the average" but also make them feel connected, safe, and amazing every day look no further! Our son can't wait to go to school every day and I give credit to the wonderful staff at this school. Way to go Central Elementary!

Three of my children currently attend Central and we will be sad to go. The teachers are wonderful and keep the kids motivated and the principal, Mrs. Jones, is wonderful. The kids all say that they have a lot of fun while they are learning and that they love the school. As a parent I have always been welcome to come to the school and participate in activities with the kids. Don't let the number rating fool you, Central is a wonderful school.

My son is in kindergarden and I was very nervous about sending him to 'big boy' school! But his teachers Mrs. Rose and Mrs. Sharp have taken great care of him and Nurse Kim has eased my medical needs!
